It started yesterday.  She threw up three times.  The first two times yesterday were very close to one another, and they smelled something awful!  The next time was in the evening, shortly after she ate her dinner.  I thought it might be her dog food, but this morning I gave her scrambled eggs for her birthday breakfast and she threw that up just now (about two hours after eating).  So now I don't know what to do.  I may try just plain rice and see how that goes?  If that doesn't work, we'll be making a trip to the vet.

Any other suggestions?  Other than the throwing up, she's acting perfectly normal.  Peeing, pooping, playing, and of course, eating whenever I give her food.  It just has me worried.  Chilie doesn't usually puke like this.

Beth, could you possibly call the Vet and see what they think?  I think I would and then I would probably take her to the Vet since this is totally out of the ordinary for her.  Poor Chilie....her poor tummy....and on her birthday!!!!  Prayers that Chilie feels better later today   Please get well sweet girl!!!

Oh gosh they do worry you! It's great she is feeling fine though. So hopefully just a slight upset. I agree with Cheryl, for your peace of mind if nothing else maybe just call the vet to see what they think? I would imagine they suggest you don't feed her anything, and just leave down a little water (so she doesn't gorge on it and make her throw up again) for 12 to 24 hours. That is what my vet has always recommended anyway to give the gut a chance to settle down. Get better Chilie this is no way to spend your birthday!

Poor Chilie !   Give your vet a call and then just try to get liquids down her - maybe some rice tonight - but her tummy needs to rest.  Just want to be sure the birthday girl doesn't get dehydrated.

Is she doing any better this afternoon?

I would be worried that it may be an obstruction of some kind but if she is pooping should not be is the ppoop runny hope it s just a bad day and she is feeling better already.

I called the vet, and he said that it could be a number of things....he wouldn't know unless he sees her.  I couldn't take her in yesterday, but I didn't give her any more food.  I did give her some chicken broth which she lapped up pretty quick.  That didn't bother her tummy.  Later, I gave her some plain rice, and it's been good with her too.  So that makes me feel better.  She'll stay on just rice for today, and maybe I'll try some food tomorrow.  If she ends up throwing up the food, then we'll go to the vet on Monday.

Thanks, everyone, for your help.  We'll keep you posted!

Sounds encouraging !!!!  When mine are like - I do chicken broth too - saltless and I usually water it down some.  Hope Chilie is on the mend !!!  Let us know !

I'm sorry I didn't see this post until today!   Porky and I have been through a lot of tummy troubles lately so I  learned quite a bit about what to do.   Like Dee Dee said, no food for 12-24 hours to let the tummy rest.   Only offer water to keep them hydrated.  Also only let them drink a small amount at a time.   Once the vommitting stops, you can give a small amount of chicken broth.  Wait two hours to see if they get sick again.  If not, give another small amount of broth.  Then the next day you can mix the broth with rice or their regular food.  More broth than anything.  Then gradually work your way back onto regular feedings.

I know my post is too little too late, but I hope this might help you if, heaven forbid, it should happen again.   I hope she is doing better today!  If she's not better by Monday, I would definately take her in.

I sure hope our Chilie Dawg is feeling better today!

Well, things were going fine, but then yesterday Chilie threw up a little of her rice.  So now I have her only on chicken broth.  I'm going to have to take her in to the vet.  I sure hope it's not a blockage.  Would she be in pain if it were?  I've gently but firmly pressed on her tummy, and it doesn't seem to hurt her.  I know she is hungry....she searches for food every chance she gets.  And she's not lethargic at all.  In fact, she seems to have more energy than usual.

Any rays you can send Chilie's way would be appreciated.  I'm worried about my boo.
