.....ya gets a tummy ache!    :bandaid:  I was outside exploring my new yard today.   I had to be on da leash still cause da front gate isn't put up yet and daddy hasn't finished fencing the back completely yet.  Anyway.....I was walking around and I smelled dis really stinky fing.  I dug da dirt a bit and found it!!   A tweasure!  An old, rotten, dead werm!!   Mama told me no and twied to pick me up, but she wasn't fast enouff.  I gulped it down.

I gotta tell ya, it wasn't good.   Fwom now on, I'm sticking to da live werms.   Dose dead ones are nasty.  Plus dey made me "pook" in my cwate!    Now mama has to wash my bwankets.

So...for all you little dachshunds, NEBER, EBER, EBER eat da dead werms!  (Just eat da wriggly ones)

We prefer to eat grasshoppers - the bigger they are, the better they taste!!  We tried to eat a yellow jacket today, but that did not work out very well...

Hallie sez worms aren't for eatin', they are just for pulverizing with the paw, then rolling in til goo gets adhered to your long flowing locks, then they can be delicately picked up with your front teeth, lips pulled back, and then flung once you gross yourself out enough...but a lady never swallows...

Same goes for horse doodie.
Hallie sez: Eat, drink and be hairy

We stomp toads - it makes them puff up real big, like they are going to scare US?

Did anyone ever try Mormon crickets?

Back in 2001 when Auntie Karen and the Kids went on a camping tour of rhe western United States, they visited Dinosaur National Monument, which straddles the Colorado-Utah border in the high desert of the northwest.  They had along Cooper-Angel, our border collie/lab doxie-wannabe.  One of the roads in the park was covered in these little black crickets.  There were GAZILLIONS of them!  Aunie Karen asked the ranger about them and she told Auntie Karen how the crickets migrate and when they get hungry, they eat each other!

Cooper told me all about it when he and I met up in L.A.  I had flown in for a consult and had surgery for some undisclosed conition.  They kept talkin about gettin me "fixed" whatever that means.  I mean, as far as I knew nothing was broken! :dontknow:

I'm doing much better with dachshunds and rabbits."

Guiness,
I know what you mean about da getting "fixed" thing.  I was confused too.  I had to get "fixed" when I was six months old.  Plus, they had to pull five of my baby teeth that hadn't come out yet. Dat was no fun.

I will hab to try dem crickets.  I saw one dat snuck into our house and I played with it.  I was afraid ta eat it though, cause he looked kinda funny to me.   Do dey taste good?   You'll have to describe their flavor and texture to us so we can decide whether or not we want to try dem.

MimisMomma

Well all we can say is that we play with the crickets for a while. And then we inhale them!! So we don't really taste them but our guess is they taste like um chicken? (ok you got me on this one doxie! First I said to myself "I wonder if I am going to have to try one to describe it? I bet it will go down better dipped in chocolate!" Then I said no way, eww gross! Mel)

Next time though we will try to savor it so we can give you a better description.

Mimi and Tuttle,
I was guessing dat dey would taste like chicken.   I was just wondering though, how crunchy are dey?  Dey sound real crunchy when mom steps on dem.  Dey must be pretty good since you guys inhale dem.
