About a week ago, we got a notice from the cable company that they would be installing a new cable distribution box on the southeast corner of our property.  Soon, little flags and spray-paint markers appeared showing where the electrical and gas lines were.  Ozzy noticed them, but since we have had flags and spray paint in our yard before, he didn't really react to them.

Yesterday afternoon, when I got home from work, a new box had been installed.  It was light green, about the size of a mini fridge.  I took Ozzy out like I usually do after work, and he immediately noticed the box.  He wanted to explore it, but since it looked like they were still working on it, I didn't let him get very close.

I know he understands what I'm saying to him as well.  When I tell him to pick up his Kong toy, he finds the toy and brings it to me.

I am always amazed at how intelligent he is!

I know, I need to figure out how to get pictures posted, but this is a busy week with commitee meetings at church and choir practice.
Luke Skywalker:  "I, I don't believe it!"  Yoda:  "That is why you fail."

Porky is the same way.  I agree with you about being amazed at their intelligence.  I taught Porky how to take a time-out when he's in trouble and I know he can understand what I'm saying to him.

That's good that Ozzy notices new things in your yard.  He's a very perceptive little guy it sounds like.

Nope.  They sure don't!   Dachshunds seem to have a natural inquisitiveness that is more cat-like than dog like.   All of my dachshunds have posessed that trait.   I think that is one of the qualities that makes a dachshund so endearing.

Patches & Buddy are the nosey's dogs I have ever had neither miss nothing. If something is moved in the house Patches barks at it if Buddy steals something and takes it in the yard Patches tells off on him.
