Margie is taking a course through the county to help train her to work with Jessica to overcome her speech problems.  One of the things they do is videotape you working with your child and then show it to the entire class.

This past week, Margie & Jessica were the first video to be reviewed.   They were playing "Ring Around the Rosie".   It went kind of like this:

Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of posie, ashes, ashes, we all fall...

BARK!!!!

Max's head suddenly appears at the top of the couch and he lets out a bark.  The entire class cracked up laughing.   "That's Max" the instructor said.

That is too cute!

I hope Margie gets a lot out of the class and that what she learns proves to be helpful.

I'm not surprised Max had impeccable timing with having listened to you play your instruments all these years.
There's nothing like having a dachshund tongue up your nose at 3 a.m.

Max is just helping!   :chairfall:  He's doing his best to help Jessica to speak "Dachshund".

Seriously, give the little one a squeeze for me and I hope that the class will be most helpful to the whold family.

David - I must have missed the post about Jessica's speech problems?  Please fill me in.  We have some history of that in our family.   For what its worth, she is still the most beautiful baby I've seen......

Jessica has been diagnosed with a speech delay.  One psycologist who evaluated her believes that she may be mildly to moderately autistic.   It appears that we have picked up on it early enought that we've been able to intervene early.  Early intervention is usually the key to success in getting a child back "on level" again.   I believe in all my heart that Jessica will be on level by the time she is ready for kindergarten.

The course is definitely helping us and we have seen some progress, although slow, with Jessica.

Thank you for the compliments...yes she is a very beautiful child, in more ways than just her appearance.

David, for what it is worth, I have 5 kids, some walked and talked very early and clearly some did not.  I was told the same thing about my son Jeff.  They said he had a speech delay and possible autiusm, among other things.  Jeff clearly needed some speech help as a young boy, but he is now 22 years old, a college grad, with a 140 IQ...............and doing fine!   He is going to get married this spring.  Isn't Jessica still very young?  A couple of my kids talked and talked clearly and well very young, a couple didn't.  They are now 18, 20, 22, 26 years old, with my daughter 10, who spoke late, and she is currently in 5th grade in the gifted child program!  Two are in college and two finished college, all the older ones have done well and my daughter is peachy keen!
Hang in there and try not to worry too much!  Seems to me that they try to read in too much with these kids at too young an age in todays world.  I'll  everything turns out well for you and your lovely little girl!
