Randy and I have been  house-hunting for the last week. I forgot how frustrating it could be. We have found a couple of houses we like, but so far the offers we made were refused. Because we like houses that are a little older, the owners have been older, too, and usually own the houses outright. I've found that it makes them a little less willing to negotiate.  We are going to try to look at another one today and also look at our numbers again to see if we can consider the counter-offer we got on the house we really want. It will be a lot of fun to see Schatzi in her own yard. She hasn't had that opportunity before and I hope she gets it before it gets too cold for her to really enjoy it. Keep your fingers crossed!!

Good Luck finding a house!  :xfinger: We love older houses too!
And I know how exciting that is to find a yard for the doxie baby.  We move into ours in 2 weeks, and it madea ll the headaches of looking worth it!

Sometimes its worth it to pay a little more if the house is one you really like.  We had our old house on the market for over 6 months.  We were getting desperate, we were making payments on two houses.  The folks that bought it actually found it on the internet and bought it sight unseen.  Before all was said and done, we discovered the septic tank had to be replaced to the tune of $5,000.  We were going to see if the buyers would pay half, then we got real.........they were moving from Kansas, driving the whole way with three horses, the last thing they have lying around is an extra $2,500.  So we just paid for the septic, and we got our house sold.  I guess it all depends on how much you want something.  No house is perfect, so you have to decide if it has enough of the things you really want.  Good luck Terri!!!

We are still talking over the one we really want. If we do a larger down payment, to keep the monthly payments lower, that will help. It will keep us from doing some of the things we wanted to do in the house at first, so we are just having to decide which way to go. The thing that makes it the toughest is having to get all new appliances for it. That is where the major expense is. I think we are going to look over the weekend and see how we feel about it by Wednesday or so. The house has been on the market since July, so I don't feel like it is suddenly going to sell.
The really frustrating thing is that a father/son realty owns the house and the son is the one listing it. He was perfectly happy with our offer and his father refused to let him take it.

Maybe if you hold off for a bit....they will come down a little.  But I agree with Patty - if this is truly your forever home...you might just want to make consessions and get it !!!  Keep us posted !!!

But as long as you can cook and get yourselves clean, and its livable no roof leaks etc, just take your time, part of the fun is getting a house then doing it up in bits. Sometimes getting everything new before you live in a house and get used to wasy, you find what you bought may not have been a good choice. Remember the old saying Rome was not built in a day. We are still looking for "the perfect lounge suite" ten years on.
