. . .wants to see my resume! :2funny:

Getting packed for the trip to L.A.  My brother let the cat out of Mom's apartment on Friday, I hope he came back.  Other than our philosophy about cats living in the wilds of Santa Monica, we are in synch as far as everything goes.

You can imagine packing up a house with 43 years of memories.  Wow, this is going to be a JOB!

Will keep you all posted.

One tee-shirt I saw in a catalogue has a picture of a snooty cat on it and says, "Don't like my attitude?  Call 1-800-GET-A-DOG!"

LOL

Karen,
I will be thinking of you often during this time. I'm sure there will be many times of tears and just as many of laughter as you pack up the memories in your mom's house. At least you and your brother are in agreement on all but the cat (and I think you will win on that one) so that will make things much easier. Take care of yourself while you are there and don't let yourself get too tired. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible. Teresa

Thinking of you as you deal with this - there will be a lot of tears and memories as you go through your moms things.  I had to do the same thing 4 years ago and it is still very fresh.  Hugs to you -

You have my empathy with the house process.  My mother died 4 1/2 years ago, while sorting her house out a year ago (that's right, took one of my sisters 3 years to get up the gumption) it was the only time the three of us came even close to civility in all that time.  Unfortunately it regressed into nastiness, where it is still...That you and your brother agree on everything but the cat, is wonderfull!  Keep it up.  Sorry you have to go thru this.  We filled 3, 30 yard roll-offs with trash from 52 years.  Absolutely amazing what my depression era mom hoarded.  Too many places on a ranch to stash stuff!  Pretty interesting too, go thru all the papers!  We found some extraordinary stuff in the damnedest places.  It's the archaeological dig of a life.

Good luck, rest a bit in between, drink lots of wine if you are a drinker, and laugh when you can.  Perseverance pays off!

Good luck on your trip.  I know it will be hard, but i am glad you have your borther there  and you don't have to do it by yourself.
