Cookstove Update

 For those who have been reading the saga of our trying to buy a range, here's the latest.

We had one all picked out. Ordered. Paid for. AND THEN....I called our retailer to get the time of delivery. They told me, as if this was perfectly normal..."Oh, we can't get that range for you. The Company doesn't make white anymore. Only black and stainless steel." And they were going to tell us this when??????

Short of it....we ended up cancelling the whole order and are starting all over again. Can't do anything until next month when the credit card is reimbursed. Yes, they had charged the card (standard procedure, I guess) and we had paid it at the end of last month. Won't be going to the BIG retailer as we found out that their Customer Service is Customer NO Service. Will be shopping local and watching for good deals. Might hang out and wait until the end of the year when the end of year sales are in full swing.

BUMMER! BUMMER!! Thanks for reading. It's been quite an interesting (read frustrating) journey.

Know the feeling. As said in another post we are building up bush for retirement so I went looking for ovens hotplates etc. White is an impossible thing to get I could get one and not the other. Then I found out that they made a 70 cm cook top and underbench oven but did not make the range hood and then found out that it was more expensive than the largest at 90 cm. Go figure. The same goes for dish washers.

Have you lookd at the Fisher Pakel (sp) dishwasher drawers?  They are "costy" too, but I LOVE ours.  Took me about 6 months to make friends w/ it, but it is terrific.  Good luck.

Do you have access to a "scratch & dent" warehouse for the "Big" retailer?  They often have models that are just a bit older, for half the price.  The one locally is operated as a seperat entity, and their people are not Sears (opps) emplyees.

Wow!  You sure have had a time of it trying to find your new stove!    Gosh.  I really hope you find the perfect one soon.   Do you have a Lowe's or Home Depot there?   We have a limited selection of appliance stores here too, so I feel your frustration there.  Good luck in your continued hunt for the stove.
