Auntie Barb,
Tank you for askin about me. I'm doing purty good, but mom took me to dat scarey place today where they poked me wiff sumting sharp and stole my blood.  Mom's been real happy ever since and I don't know why.....?? Dat HURT!!!  I told mom I'm not going anywhere cause I wants my tweat box!  Oh, and those mean people shaved my butt!  I tink I needs some bun warmers iffin my fur doesn't grow back by wintertime.

Hi Barb and everyone else!
Frank is doing GREAT.  He had bloodwork today to check his redblood cell count.  After surgery his count was 20% (Low) and it is now (37% normal!! Yahoo!!). I'm real happy!  Its seems like removing his spleen was the right thing to do and now they have us starting to wean him off of most of his meds.  We are hoping to get him completely off of the immune-suppressive drugs which leave him susceptible to infections.  The doctors are amazed at how well he is doing and that he is healing so nicely.  They were really scared that he would clot and have a stroke during surgery or not be able to heal due to his medications and immune issues, but Frank is proving everyone wrong!  Goes to show never doubt the will of a dachshund.
We have to wait up to 4 weeks for the pathology reports, but for now everything is great!  He is pain-free with out the pain meds, has better bladder control and is sleeping through the night.
We couldn't be happier!

Franky - that is such good news !!!  So glad you are doing so good !!!!   I bet mom will get you a sweater if your hair doesn't all come back by winter !!!     Keep up the reports !  We are still sending rays !

  WONDERFUL NEWS!!!  Frankie, we are still sending hugs and kisses your way!!!!  I must say...a hairless butt is so cute....Your incision looks great and blood count is normal!  We wouldn't ask for any better news than that!!!!  Keep up the great work sweet boy!!!

Yea, i am glad that he is doing well!  Hopefully he'll get the fur back on his butt before it gets cold.

You know, Guinness' butt looks like that ALL the time!  AND his stomach looks like that ALL the time!

My good friend calls it incipient dachshund alopecia.

And we won't even talk about the top half of his tail!!  LOL

So don't worry, sweetie, your fur will grow back and Guinness will STILL look like a nekked mole rat!

Crazy thought maybe you can put a sweater or coat upside down on him to keep his belly warm not sure what to do about the pee part though told you it was a crazy idea maybe I just need to go to bed now.
