Clifford could use some rays.  His left back leg has been kinda wobbly for a while now.  I figured probably weakness from his ruptured lumbar disc some 7.5 yrs ago.  Tonight he went out and pooped and when trying to stretch to pee his leg gave out and began cramping (I think).  He can't put any weight on the leg and it was drawing up, then spasming out straight.  All his lumbar discs were fenestrated at the time of the surgery, but there are still 2 discs intact (I hope) right at the tail.

I've been massaging his back (ooooh, do that some more Dad!!!!) and neck (oh, yeah, that's a good spot too!!!).  It seems to be better, but I'm not going to test it by asking him to stand.  There's obviously some pain as he is kind of limp and warm, but his nose kisses are very vigorous as usual.

I think we'll be able to get through tonight ok, but will call the vet 1st thing in the am.  It's time for his yearly checkup and dental anyway.  It's tough getting old, but goes with the territory.

Thanks for the rays, everyone.  They worked great!!!!!

Clifford was back to normal by the time I got home from my band concert last night.  We did camp out on the living room floor for good measure.  I suspect it was just a muscle cramp as there is no sign of pain when I probe his back (oooh, ahhh, do that again, Dad!!).

Glad to hear it was a false alarm. These guys can sure get your attention, especially when they get up there in age.

I am glad to hear Clifford is doing better too! So scary when things like that happen and more so with a doxie since things can escalate so quickly.
Clifford is going to connect the owie symptoms with massages and be faking it if you aren't careful!  :thumb:
