Zoe was named after the comics character "Baby Zoe"...who kinda gets into all kinds of trouble...which fits!!  My hubby named Winston after Winston Churchhill (think althought he used to smoke Winstons when he smoked).  Sheba was something I just came up with.

Porky Pie got his name because
1. He was the fattest in the litter when he was born.  (that's the Porky part)
2.  His momma's name was Half Blue moon Pie Dottie.  (Weird name, but hey I didn't pick it. )   So...that's where we got the Pie.

And, for those of you who don't know, his full name is Porky Pie Bow.   The Bow part comes from his father's name.   (the dogfather, not the hoofather) LOL   We thought it would be cute since he is a Piebald to name him Porky Pie Bow.   Because Pie Bow and Piebald sound a lot alike when you say them fast.

Both my kids were adopted and came with their names.  I kind of like the "Y" theme - so if I get to name any in the future, they will end in Y or have a Y sound on the end....

When our Dolly came to us at 1 1/2 years, she really wasn't called anything by her never family.  She was left outside in cold N. CA and even grew a long survival coat, even though we soon found out she was a smooooooothie.  Her "people" sometimes called her Goofy or Norma.  Her papers said she was Mustang Sally the 3rd, or some such thing.  We thought and thought.  I couldn't go with Norma but played with the name as in the Dahli Norma.  DOLLY!  That was it.  So of course, what is a Dolly without a Madison?  So that's how Maddie got her name, but she is best known as The Madderoo.  And there is only ONE Madderoo.  They broke the mold after her.....thank GAWD!   :2funny:

I agreed to Clifford coming to live with me when he was 6 months old.  A friend had gotten him and after 4 months decided he was gone too much with work and also dealing with full custody of his 5 year old daughter.  I had read that when getting an already named pet, it is a good idea to give them a new, similar sounding name.  However, I had known him for 4 months as Clifford, so that's what he stayed.

I don't know how the name Clifford was chosen, but am sure it was NOT because of Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Most of our dogs came with names although why these names are beyond me!  Bambam, Patches?  Cocoa was named; but, she was a chocolate so it made sense.  Ladybug was a stray and did not have a name.  The rescue called her Bonnie; but, she didin't know it. Ladybug was such a pathetic, soft little creature with the very best lady-like manners.  So, she became Ladybug, Lady for short.

Dee Dee and Hallie

love these stories (Mike I gotta admit I always thought it was from Clifford the Big Red dog! )

I had a few names picked out for Hallie. My brother in laws mother's name is Hallie and back when I met her it was the first time I had heard that name and I really liked it. When I was trying to decide on Hallie's name, I was reading my list of names off to my Dad. When I got to "Hallie", he said "Hallelujah" so the name was chosen! Now my neice and nephew call their Grandma Hallie, Big Hallie (I'm not sure how much she appreciates that LOL) and my Hallie is "Little Hallie".
