Has anyone enrolled in or used VPI Pet Insurance.  I know it's too late to enroll Charlie in it since his back problems have already occurred, but I was wondering if it was worth the cost and / or easy to use.

My company offers pet insurance, but I decided the premiums were too high for our budget.  Through pop-can, wedding money, and spare change, I've built a "cushion" of sorts in case Ozzy were to need major health care.

I my opinion, it was not a bargain, since it excludes the very problem that would cause major medical expenses.

After taking a lunch break and spending some time with Ozzy, my last sentence did not make much sense.  I'm sure there are very serious medical conditions, other than back problems, that can spring up, and these conditions could make pet insurance a bargain.  It's a big gamble, you could pay the premiums and never have a serious medical condition arise, or you could pass on the insurance, only to have a crisis situation costing thousands arise.  We are lucky that, if a situation arises where we could not immediately pay for Ozzy's medical care, our vet would allow us to pay it off over time.

Ozzy is going great, but he sometimes does not want to go back into his kennel when I have to leave to come back to work after lunch.  Any ideas?

I went to the VPI web page and signed-up for it from there.  I'm still not sure if it's worth its weight in gold, unless of course something were to happen, of which I hope it doesn't.
