Hi everyone.  Well, we're back from vacation and what a wonderful trip we had!

I just have to brag about the girls.  They were wonderful travelers and super little houseguests.  Just the best!  I am so proud of them both.

The trip to Washington took two days each way and was approximately 1300 miles.  They just laid in the back seat and played with their toys.  I had them in seatbelt harnesses, but the harnesses we bought didn't work out to well.  It seems they were made for dogs with legs, and the girls just kinda kept slipping out of them.  (Since we returned home I've ordered a pair of Dog Catchers from Dachshund Delights.)

They were perfect angels at my cousin's house; they stayed out of the formal living room and dining room and in the kitchen/den!  After we had been there a while and familiarized them with their surroundings, I walked them on the property, off leash, with no incidents and the little darlings even pottied for me on command!  My cousin was very impressed and honestly, so was I.

FYI, we stayed over night at the La Quinta Inn on the way up and back.  Their rates were very reasonable and there was no charge or deposit for the girls.  All three of us humans and the two dogs stayed in the same room with two Queen sized beds and they charged us like $78 with our AAA card.  While I'm not a seasoned traveler, I thought that was pretty darn good.  We were also pleasantly surprised by how much it cost us in gas.  I had guesstimated it would be around $600, but it wound up being $240 - round trip!  All in all, not bad.

We had such a good time, more road trips are definitely in our future.

Well glad that you all had such a pleasant trip. I have traveled a lot with anywhere from 6-13 doxies and I can honestly say I had more trouble when I took my 89 year old Grandpa:) The dogs are always much better behaved and the hotels/motels have always been much better at accommodating us with the dogs.  Go figure!
