I think it has finally hit Berman that Annie is gone. He just seems so down in the dumps this past week.  We are trying to give him extra attention and have taken him to fun places like the petstore and to play at his friend Greta's house.

I do know our home feels kinda empty. Also, Berman, who usually loves sleeping in his crate, has been sleeping in the big bed with us.  He will stay in his crate for a few minutes, then whines until he's in bed with us.

I miss having Annie on our evening walks.  Johnny always walked Berman and I walked Annie.  Now I feel like a 3rd wheel or something.

I guess we're all still a little sad.  It just hits me every now and then and I just completely break down.

Anyway, any thoughts on how to get Berman's spirits up?

I think you are doing everything you can.  He is grieving just as you are.   It just takes some time to regroup.  I know it has to be so hard.  She had her special place in your household and although she will always be in your heart, you have to learn how to get through the day without her there.   Sending rays to Berman and to you and Johnny.  We are hear to listen and share in your stories of Annie - we miss her too.

Thanks, Barb.  We're actually looking into adopting a playmate for Berman.  Before we found Annie, we were planning on getting Berman a little sister to grow up with. We found just what we were looking for on DRNA.

This little girl would in no way be Annie's replacement, but I think she would definitely lift our spirits and would be a perfect little sister for Berman.  We had actually started looking when Annie got sick, but weren't positive that we wanted another kid or not.

We'll see how everything goes.

Wow !  I was afraid to suggest this...as it may have been too soon.  Of course she won't replace Annie, but will find her own place....our hearts are big !!!!!   An addition will be uplifting for your whole family !!!  Please keep us posted!  Do you have a link to the little girl you are looking at?

Skeetr and Poldie were blue when Archie passed away last year.  Skeeter went off her feed, and Poldie kept looking for him.  Seeing the furkids miss him was almost harder than the grief I felt.  I tried extra lovies and special treats, but just like humans, it seems that time to heal is what they really need.  Rays to you and Berman.

It's weird because before we found Annie, we were really wanting a smooth red little girl. Now after Annie has passed, I found Minnie!  It's just the craziest thing.  I'm convinced more and more that Annie was a little angel sent here to teach us some tough life lessons!

I think there are several applications on this one so I'm not getting my hopes up too much!

Minnie is a DOLL!  Of course she won't replace Annie, but welcoming a rescue into your home can sure help heal your hearts and uplift spirits.  I'm sure Berman is just missing his buddy, Annie.   It takes time.

Jenny G

It's weird because Berman never wanted much to do with Annie.  I think Minnie would be good for him because she's young and active and they can just play and play till they wear out!

Hi Jenny

We all miss little Annie and I am sure she is still looking after you all and wanting you all to be happy. Little Minnie looks GORGEOUS! Good luck - she can't go to a better forever home!
Take care and BIG HUGS to both you and little Berman from us

It sounds silly, but I think I would just cuddle him and talk to him about Annie crossing the bridge.  Your love and time should help him pull through this.

(((Hugs))) to you all and best wishes on the adoption prospect.

I am so sorry about Annie. I have been out of the loop:( I think it's great that you are thinking about adopting from DRNA. Minnie is a doll and she is with my good friend Jo Beth. I am sure I will be able to help with transport. Give Berman extra hugs for me. :comfort:

AHA !  It pays to have contacts........Sue - can you put in a good word for Jenny ?  See Jenny's tribute to Annie under the Rainbow Bridge section.  Annie was such a sweetie - I know Minnie would be getting a wonderful home.
