My baby is getting silver hairs!!  :sad1: When we were giving her a bath we noticed that Penny is starting to get gray/silver hair on her snout and chin. She is only 4 1/2 but figure that with all the stress she has gone through this year with her health that it isn't surprising! How old were your puppers when they started getting gray hairs?

AWWW! Don't you just want to pluck them out! It does make them distinquished looking, though.

Gretchen started when she was about 5 or 6. It seems the ones that have had health problems get gray hair faster, as you said. Ilsa is only 5 months younger than Gretch and still doesn't have a gray hair on her. I don't know if it's because she's red (Gretchen is B/T) and it doesn't show, if it's because she's a wire (Gretch is a LH), or because she's been healthy (Gretchen has had back surgery and 2 flair ups since the surgery) - I hope I didn't just jinx myself with Ilsa!!! BTW, Gretchen just turned 8 in June and Ilsa will turn 8 in November.

Barb

Brandy came with some grey hairs (she was 5 1/2) and now at 11 only has a few more flecks.

Rudy's muzzle is starting to grey a little - he is 7 1/2.

I am partial to the grey faces - I just love them !

Zora is picking up some grey hairs in her tan points now, too.   Zora will be six in August.   Because Zeke is already blue/grey, it's difficult to tell if he has any, and he just turned five.

From what I recall, Max, who was a clear red, got a "poof" of white just at the tip of his snout between ages 4 & 5, and then did not get more white until 9 or 10, where he just went completely white.

Interesting! Penny is a red with some find black hairs...can't remember what it is called - it says sable on her registration. I love her gray hairs and all - she is cute no matter what!  :hello2:

Gunner was a year old when I noticed he had one. He is 4 1/2 and hasn't got anymore.

Zack had a couple of grey ones on his back from the time he was about a year old.  Yvette and Cindy both told me to pluck them since I was showing him but I wouldn't.  I told them it was the one way I could tell him and Zelda apart when I had them both on leashes and was looking straight down at them.
Zack and Zelda got grey much faster than Zeke did.  It must be in the genes becuase they both had a lot of it by the time they were 5 or 6.   Zeke had very little even on his face until he was 14 or so.

Grey hair looks a lot better on Cookie than it does on me!

She came to us ( at about age 6) with grey.  It makes her look distinguished!

That's sooo funny. My husband and i were just talking about how "Max" has about 3 or 4 gray hairs right on the top of his tail/but area. He turned 4 on April 8th.
