I feel so awful.

Last night when we were all going to bed, Cookie seemed hesitant to go into her playpen (her playpen is in our bedroom with a bed, and 2 queensize sheets and a blanket- it’s a burrowing weiner dog’s dream bed!)  She kept sniffing one corner, so I lifted up one of her sheets and noticed some poop in the corner of her playpen.  I lifted the sheet some to notice a lot of poop.  Poor thing must have pooped in the night the night before (Sunday night) and tried to poop in the corner furthest from her bed.   As I start lifting the blankets and sheets (carefully as not send any poop flying in our bedroom), I realize one of her sheets was damp!  She had peed in her bed that night too.

I felt awful.  I had heard her get up in the night and cry and make noise- I just assumed she was wanting out of her playpen and in our bed, so I ignored her.  Turns out, she had to use the bathroom, and was forced to go in her bed and then had to sleep in her excrement.  I feel just awful about that now.  :sad7:

Last night, after we got all the poop and pee cleaned, cleaned the carpet, and threw all her bedding in the wash, we gave her new sheets to sleep in her playpen.  I still feel bad that her Sunday night was spent sleeping in that mess, and we had no clue.  I feel like one of those awful owners on Animal Cops that lets their dogs sleep in their poo.  :verdict:

Awwww... Poor mama...I can almost guarantee that Cookie has forgotten all about it!  We ALL make mistakes....and for some reason they ALWAYS forgive us!  It sounds like Cookie has a wonderful bed!

Oh my goodness.  When I do something like this, and after I beat myself up over it, I look at it as a learning experience.  Just think, you'll never do THAT again.  Now at least, you will ask yourself.....maybe Cookie has to go potty.  Alex whined the whole way home from his dental last week..........50 miles.......talk about annoying.  I thought maybe he had to take a poop.  He really got on Willy's nerves, too, but there was no safe place to pull over, so I didn't.  Turns out that Alex has gotten in tune to the fact that being in the kennel in the car means a trip to the cabin, so he was just over-excited and didn't have to go poop afterall.  He got scrambled eggs for dinner that night for being a good dog and not going poop in mom's Mustang.

Except those people don't feel bad about it, or correct the problem - that's why Animal Cops are called in to the rescue. We all goof up sometimes, no permanent damage done!!

Poor baby!     Now my Madderoo has no such scruples.  She'll happily pee (never poo) on her day bed in the laundry room while we're at work.  Seems like she's having a bit of a time holding it for 4 hours these days, as I come home for lunch and let her loose.  So we put down a towel for her to do her wetting on but sometimes there's nuthin' like wetting the bed........I guess.

Funny, she has no problem sleeping through the night on the big bed.  Do I detect a spite pee here? :dontknow:

Don't worry mom - just warm up those nice clean sheets in the dryer before sending her to bed and she will snuggle on in.  Like Patty said - you will not let it happen again !!!  We all have done something that makes us feel so awful later.....but our puppers forgive us !!!    And we DO feel bad !!!!

Cookie, honey, I hope you gave your hooman a special version of da L@@K - you look embarrassed and make your hooman feel bad at the same time.

Pupper Guilt - it's a wonderful thing!

Thank you all for making me feel better.  I just want my little girl's life to be perfect!  She got an even better bed last night- fresh sheets from the dryer! Her bed was looking better than mine!
I have to watch feeling guilty though- Cookie picks up on it and milks it with lots of looks.

We ALL have "bad mom/dad moments"  I think if this is the worst thing that ever happens to Cookie, she is still one of the luckiest puppers in the world. I can imagine how you felt though. Cookie has most likely forgotten all about it, but she's milking the Mommy Make Ups!  :thumb:
