I had to put Gizmo to sleep today know she is not a Dachshund she was my Papillon for 15 & 1/2 year she just quit eating had not eaten since last Wednesday when I had her at the vets they told me her teeth were not that bad not bad enough to keep her from eating. I told them about her dementia/Alzheimer's not knowing us and having to wear a diaper 24/7, her heavy panting at times. Tried giving her Jimmy Dean sausage her favorite, then boiled chicken breast would not touch it she use to weigh 7#6 oz today she weighed 6# 6 oz. a pound is allot for a tiny dog to loose.She was walking around in the back yard she quit that about 2 weeks ago. I fixed her up in a boot box of my husbands put two of her beloved Yapple balls in with her and Jake my Bouvier's ashes so she would not be alone.Buried her at my mother in laws place. A sad Day but is a way glad it is over she really was not my little Gizmo anymore not for some time.Hope that does not sound bad of me but I think she is now better off running and playing ball in the heavens.

You made a very loving decision for Gizmo.  Our condolences for your loss.  It is never easy, but it is the most loving thing we can do for our furkids.  She is now running free with her ball at the Bridge, with our dearest and best, who have gone on before. 

Have you thought of making a memory book as many do.  The organizing and preparation will help you heal, although I don't think that is ever complete.

So sorry!! No matter how it happens it is hard and having to make the decision is the hardest. There are times when we know that we have no other choice. We have to let them go. Just know that Gizmo is now healthy and happy and patiently waiting for you.
