We are back home and I know have myself a college graduate. It has been a crazy few days in Nashville, full of packing (though Meg had done most of it already), cleaning and tears, but we are all here now. The weather was questionable for the weekend up until the ceremony yesterday morning. Since this was an outdoor commencement, everyone was praying it didn't rain, otherwise the graduates were limited to three people each. It stormed all night Friday night. The rain stopped around 6:30 or 7 Saturday morning and according to radar had finally moved off. It was wonderful since it kept it cool outside. The only bad thing was the clouds that kept circling overhead. It would get a little dark and we would all swear it was going to rain and then it would move off. There were truly lots of prayers going up for 2 1/2 hours. Everything was over at 11:20, the rain started at 12:10. The college president said he could see from the platform the rain coming down over the mountain behind the university, but it never rained on us. What a blessing from God we were given.
Meghan has moved back to Greenville to start her career in social work. She will be applying for her social work license in the next week and once she hears from that will take her American Social Work Board for the Bachelors level. Most states do not require a license until you have your masters degree, but SC requires it with a Bachelors, at least for most jobs. She did an internship with children and adolescents, including the juvenile delinquents, at the state mental health institute in Nashville and would love to continue working in that field. She seems to have found her passion, and according to her internship supervisor and her professor, has a natural talent with these children. If she doesn't find something here in SC, she will consider going back to Nashville, especially if they call her with a position at the same place she did her internship.
Say a prayer as she makes the adjustment of meeting new friends in a familiar place. Greenville has changed so much in the last 4 years and has almost become like a new city itself. That makes it exciting and she will get to enjoy all the things she has missed. As for Randy and I, we will once again get used to having an extra person in the house, at least for a few months. We want her to get her "real" job-she at least will have a job in the meantime making some money-and put a little money away before moving out on her own. I think Randy would have her here forever, but realistically, she will probably be home for about 6 months.
Here are a couple of pictures from Saturday. The first is the priceless moment of getting the degree, the second one is when they were walking out and she just looks so proud of herself, and the third is a picture of Meghan with my niece, Lauren.

Congratulations Meghan!  What a wonderful time for you!  It sounds like you have chosen a perfect career for yourself.  I suspect that you get your compassion from your mom!  I've seen it in her support and caring when my Toby-Man was so ill.  Your a very blessed girl to have such amazing and supportive parents,  but I'm sure you know that!   :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls: :apls:

Thanks so much everyone. I'm going to get Meghan in front of the computer to read these or print them out for her sometime later today. When I started on the board, she had just finished her first semester of her freshman year and we had just lost Kendall-angel. Meghan didn't get to meet Schatzi until we had her for 6 weeks or so.
Mindy-I was hoping you would be celebrating this next year. Isn't it great to have them on a 4 year plan!!! It seems to be a rarity these days.
I'm off today so I'm going to spend it with Meghan in her room trying to make more space than there really is. We will box up some of her old stuff and store it until she moves out, then she can decide if she really wants it or not. That way she doesn't regret getting rid of things she may want to have later.
She will send off her license application tomorrow so we will see how long it takes to hear back from it and then how long it takes to schedule her boards. In the meantime she will start working Monday at her old job. At least they offer insurance and she will make MONEY!!!!
Once again, thanks for all your support on this board. So much has happened in the last 4 years and all of you were a part of much of it, the very bad and the very, very good. Who knows, now we may get Meghan to join us sometime!
