I am considering switching Porky to the Eagle Pack Holistic dry dog food.  Is anybody familiar with this brand.  It seems to be pretty good.  I was looking at the Anchovy, salmon and sardine formula.  Porky has the itchies and our vet reccommended that we try this food to resolve the issue.   Also he has an intolerance/allergy for milk.   Let me know if you have tried this food and liked it or if I should look for something else.  Thanks.

Right now, Porky is on a diet of chicken and rice prepared at home.  Until the recalls quit occurring so frequently.  He also gets broccoli, green beans, and sweet potatoes.  I've mixed all the stuff together in the blender(after cooking the chicken).  It looks extremely gross, but Porky loves it.  I definately don't plan on this "diet" for the longterm as I'm not entirely sure it would give him all his nutrients.

Thanks for your help.

To add nutrients to Porky's diet, you can mix in The Missing Link.  They make it with and without glucosamine.  It's a "superfood supplement" with essntial fatty acids, dietary fiber, and phytonutrients.  (I'm typing off the package, phytonutrients is not in my normal vocabulary).

Mizz eLlIe here ..... this is the food I eat .... smells like C-A-T food, but I like it.  We changed to this food when I had itchy ears ...  the vet said no infections in my ears, but I was always scratching and rubbing them.  Something worked because my ears don't itch anymore.  And my Mama says my black coat has more shine too.

That is great news!!  Porky's ears and belly are bald from scratching. He does gets frequent ear infections though and the vet suspects a lot of his scratching s habit since he had so many infections at a young age.  I'm glad this food took care of that problem for Ellie.  Any idea how much a bag of this stuff costs?   I am searching for a distributor in my area, but I may end up having to purchase it online.  Thanks for your help!

I'm still undecided about whether we can afford to get this food.  :dontknow:  Considering shipping costs, etc... :doah:  We may have to find another similar brand.

I think I pay about $11 for a 6.6 lb bag. eLlIe eats only 3/4 - 1  cup per day.
Purina ONE has one for "Sensitive Systems" which is also salmon based and actually has more protein (26%) my vet recommended that one too.

Eagle Pack is suppose to be a very good food a person I know feeds it to his Show Beardies and became a distributor just so he could get it here in Tulsa he is still selling it. I think it is listed as a 5 on the web site I posted about if foods were good or not. You may have trouble getting Porky to eat regular dog food since you have been cooking for him.You may need to get some type of vitiams & minerals into the home made foods you are feeding may not cover all he needs.???

Dee Dee and Hallie

Hallie gets their canned food (chicken). Her kibble is Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul. Plus other supplements. I don't know about Eagle Packs dry food but the canned has less calories than other foods I was looking at in the beginning, which for Hallie anyway is a bonus since I have to half starve her (she would tell you) to keep her girlish figure.

Turns out no onw locally carries the Eagle Pack food I'm looking for. They carried all the other Holistic flavors except the one I'm looking for.  :BangHead:  Go figure!   So...we might try the Chicken Soup or order from Flint River ranch.    :dontknow:  Stll trying to decide.  I'm waiting to hear back from a store to see if they can special order the Eagle Pack for me.

I order all mine online. The shipping is a lot but then I don't have to pay sales tax.

I have been feeding Eagle Pack Holisitc since last November when we moved... the dogs are doing great on it and the customer service is outstanding!! My adults eat the Anchovy, Salmon and Sardine Formula and the pups get the Chicken & Rice.   I  highly recommend this food to anyone... I have been nothing but impressed!  :thumb:
