Dachshund Room Box

Lately I have been working on a dachshund room box in 1:12 scale.  My hobby is dollhouses and miniatures, and I wanted to do a project dedicated to our babies.  Eventually I will add more things, but it is mostly complete.  I want to depect the four dachsies doing their most infamous acts.  Once I add their naughty deeds I will be done.

First I will post the room box photo and close ups of the needlework I have made.  The rug is a punchneedle.  There was no kit available, so I printed a design from the internet and made my own.  The sampler is a kit.  I also made the chair and printed my own wallpaper.  It's hard to see inthe photo, but dachshund run around the border.

In the next post I'll post close ups of the mini dachsies.  These were made by miniature artisans.

Jeri, how incredibly cool!!!  You did a wonderful job, you are SO talented.  Its an absolutely precious display, I love all the attention to detail.  Could you take a photo with a pencil or something next to it so we can get some perspective?  This is really neat!

Dag, Jeri--you made the CHAIR??!  I am impressed.  That's a perfect job; nice touch with just the right scale weave=pattern.

And NEEDLEWORK???? YOu must have Superman eyes; you have Superman mini talent, fer sure.

As for the dirty deeds I have some dark brown FIMO.  I can make those for you.

But, I must ask, how is it in your miniature world, even though there is food on the table and a chair next to the table that there is no dog on the table???

Yes, I made the fabric chair.  It was my first attempt at upholstery.  I was cleaning out my sewing pattern stash, and came across a 10 year old pattern for sewing room accessories.  The pattern included a pincushion that looked like a chair.  As luck would have it, I measured the pattern and it was in perfect 1:12 scale. 

The eyesight is getting to be an issue.  I am getting by with drugstore readers for now, but I will need a daylight lamp and magnifiers in the near future.

In the future, Archie will leave an accident on the floor, Boone will be tearing up his cushion, and Skeeter will be barking at everyone while cuddling in the chair with her favorite toy, a rubber chicken.  Yep, I found one in miniature!  A food artist is making a dog ravaged dinner to commemorate the two holiday dinners that Leopold stole.  The cake (which I also made) is standing in temporarily while the food is being made.  It looks good with the dachshund china, doesn't it?

The floor was made from coffee stirrers.  I can't make all my own minis yet, but I am getting better at it!

Patty, I will take a photo with a scale reference once I add the last minis, sometime in the next few weeks.
