Picture an Easter sunrise service in a typical Christian church.  I made it through the first joyous hymn, and the prayer hymn.  I am preparing for my vocal solo, when I accidentally hit the higher key accompaniment instead of the medium one.  Instead of stopping and correcting my mistake, I decided to attempt the higher voiced accompaniment.

I have not hit the high "F" note since I was 16 and singing "O Holy Night" for a Christmas Cantata.

I hit the "F" note, but thought, for a while, I had sustained internal injuries. :2funny:

The rest of my Easter Sunday went off without a hitch, and in the second service, I sang to the correct accompaniment, which was much easier.  I also got to play one of my favorite pieces, the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah."

I also had a wedding this weekend, and I had to accompany a soloist on "Annie's Song" by John Denver, with its complicated left hand work.

You know it's been one of "those" weekends when you return to work to take a break!!!

So glad you were able to hit the note without injury AND you still had a voice for the second service!
Ahhhh, Annie's Song for a wedding brings back memories. 25 years and 4 months ago when Randy and I got married, We had a soloist sing Annie's Song right before I walked in. When he got to the last verse, they opened the doors at the back of the church and my dad and I stood there for that last bit of the song. Immediately after that, the Wedding March Began and I came in. Annie's Song didn't start until after the bridesmaids were in so it was really pretty cool. Thanks for the memory!

In August Gary and I will be married 24 years....and yes...we had Annie's Song.  I knew it was popular back then but I didn't know it was still popular at weddings today.   :thinik:   hummm....That is a great memory.....we also had "The Rose" by Bette Midler.....
