Yesterday we received a beautiful gift in the mail.  Dan brought home a large cardboard envelope.  The return address was the National Star Registry.  I started to cry before I even got the envelope opened.  Lori Ruisi and Sue Jandrin had a star named after Misty -- MISTY GIRL.  When Dan saw it, he started crying.  I cannot tell you how touched we are and how much this means to us.  What a beautiful tribute to our little Misty girl and what a testimony to the wonderful people we know thanks to this message board.

All of you have been so wonderful to us during this time of grief over the loss of Misty.  All your posts, emails and cards have meant so much to us.  They have helped us to not feel alone in our sadness.  I have printed out all the emails and posts so I can keep them.  Dan has yet to read them all, he will get through a couple and break down.  Thank you all for your love and support.  Dan put it best when he said "your doxie friends are the salt of the earth."  I certainly agree!
Thanks guys.

Patty, I think the only way to get through the grief of losing a pet is with the support of other dog lovers or pet-owners. They are truly the only ones who understand who much these little 4 legged beings are part of our family and how painful it is to lose one of them. I still tear up each time I see a picture of Misty, especially any of them of her with Dan. I think I know how much Randy grieved when we lost our first Bulldog 5 years ago and I keep thinking of Dan going through that. Just as your pain will not go away quickly, my thoughts and prayers for you will not go away too fast either.

P.S. I think it is quite appropriate that Misty MOONshine has a STAR named after her!!!

Ahhh - what an awesome gift!  Now she will always be with you no matter where you are!

I agree that the support from the people on this board is a true godsend.  There is no way I would've been able to get through losing Annie with 1/2 my sanity without this board!

That certainly brought tears to my eyes!  What a wonderful way to remember Misty!

Jenny - when I lost three of my four-pack within 9 months, and then my dad a month after Siglen, I don't believe I could have made it through without the people here and on another dachsie group I help moderate.  No one but those of us who truly loves our breed is quite as empathetic as we are!

What a LOVELY gift.  Patty and Dan, I value you as my friends.  My hope is that as the days go by, the grief will lessen, the clouds will move away and the sun will shine in your heart again.

Love you both,

Patty,
What a wonderful way to remember her!!  Sending you more HHHHH's & PPPP's to get through this.  I know how hard it is to lose them especially so unexpectedly.  They are our babies no matter how long we have had them and it is always too short a time. Your message brought tears to my eyes too!

What an awesome way to remember your sweet baby girl.  I also tear up when I see her pictures - her passing hurt us all.  I am keeping you and Dan in my prayers as you deal with this each day.   I love knowing that Misty Girl is twinkling up there !

What a fantasic gift I wondered why it was so bight out , I always say Angus is in the wind, so he can blow past her now.
I know how you feel for Dan as it socially accepted by all that women can get emotional, so holding it in for some  men, my Nick included is hard. My girlfreind rang last night and her Zela 9 yr lab is not to good health wise adn she is missing her beloved craig  is away for a month, and she was saying I'm the only one she can talk to as everyones tels her its just a dog.

love and hugs to you both
