Need technical help viewing photos

For a couple of weeks now I have not been able to view photos on my computer the normal way, by double-clicking on them.  And I can't see any of the photos posted here on the message board, there isn't even an address to the photo, nor can I open photos sent to me in an email by just clicking on them.   Did I somehow turn something off that is causing this?  Thanks for your help.

Patty, as I have a Mac, I don't know if my solutions will work for you.  In my browser, there are preferences that can be changed to show pics.  In the email program, there are similar prefs.  Could your IT person/group have turned something off on the main server?  Good luck. S

I asked Drew and this is what he said:

Tell her one thing to fix it would be to install IrfanView: http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm

This does not fix her underlying problem, but will allow her to view imagese in e-mail and obes already on her computer. It will not address her browser not displaying them though.
