We met a new friend

Zeke and Zora here.  We got to meet a new friend tonight.  His name is Chewie (short for Chewbacca) and he is a Pomeranian.   He sure is a small, fluffy dog!   He belongs to Dad's friend Jeff.  Jeff, if you remember, had a Chow named Kong that was a pal of Rudy's.   Kong went to the Bridge the year before Rudy did.    The way the circle came around for Mom and Dad taking us in, the circle came around for Jeff with Chewie.   Jeff lives in Phoenix now, so he flew in.

We're still not 100% sure that Chewie is a dog.  He smelled like a dog, but we think he looked like a sounded like a cat.   Zeke and Chewie did most of the playing, they were very friendly.  Zeke got the upper hand showing dominance early, until Chewie realized he was quicker and able to turn inside Zeke and get away.  That change the dynamic of the pack as Chewie, who was initially submissive became more aggressive with his play.   At that point, Zora jumped in and tried to help Zeke corral Chewie.

In the pics, it appears that Chewie and Zeke are close to the same size, but it is completely illusory.  Most of Chewie is fur as he tips in at 5.9 pounds.   Zeke has almost 10 pounds on him.   Zeke was basically a giant battering ram, while Chewie was a superball.    Despite Zeke's face in the pictures, he did thoroughly enjoy the "male bonding" between himself and Chewie.  Chewie, for his part, was completely mellowed out after his visit with Zeke.  He really wasn't 100% sure what had happened to him.

I LOVE the picture of Zeke drawing a line in the carpet. That is exactly what it looks like he is doing! I bet it was lots of fun to watch those two. We used to have neighbors who had 3 Poms, so I know how quick they can be.
I keep looking at Chewie's picture and thinking of him as a miniature Kong!
