Wow...that is so beautiful. All we have today is gray skies and a brisk 70 degrees

LOL brisk like a turtle! I can't imagine what 70 degrees feels like, do you have an extra room for me and Hallie for the winter? We'll help you spoil Penny while she heals up! The nice thing though about the good weather is once Penny is able to get out a little, she can sit outside in her x pen or something, Hallie and I spent a lot of time in the front yard in the x pen together this summer from about week 3 on.

I need a more attractive fence for photo taking in my yard...Hallie was running the perimeter where the snow was shallowest, they sure are smart to figure stuff like that out so fast.

Now you need some of our minus 25 temps so the snow will stay!

As a matter of fact we do have an extra room - come on over! I was just telling Drew and I needed to take Penny outside today to get her some fresh air - she loves to lay in the sun.

LOL I love the new snow but after a few hours it can go away! I am not a cold weather person me and Hallie turn into popsicle sticks real fast. Sure is beautiful though. Are you guys really at -25? I cant' even imagine that! Everyone must have their pipes insulated really good!  :thumb: My absolute favorite weather is about 45-50 degrees, dark skies, windy, stormy but not quite raining yet.

Kari I do wish we could come help keep Penny occupied. That is one of the hardest parts. I was so neurotic with Hallie I wouldn't even let anyone come over, afraid she'd get excited and hurt something. When I did start letting people come I made them drive over the lawn and park beside the house where she couldn't see them then sit in the car until I got her out and was holding her and gave them the signal, so she didn't hear the door slam. Probably a good thing I don't have human kids, we'd both need therapy! I'll bet fresh air and a change of scenery would do Penny a world of good! I also took Hallie for slow careful car rides after week 3, through the park, in her crate which is set high enough on the seat she can see out (and bolted down good) with the windows down so she could smell the air and see new stuff. I made sure no dogs were in sight though. I also would take her out and sit on a picnic table and let her watch the ducks at the pond. I think that stuff, that you can do safely of course, helps them a lot to get through the boring days.

Its been getting down to minus 25 at night the past couple of nights, or colder, I don't know.  Our atomic clock/thermometer only goes down to minus 25 and then it defaults to zero F until it "warms" up to at least minus 24.  Its noon and minus 2 right now, with ice fog everywhere.  Our trees are beautiful, all covered with the frost, looking like big white feathers.

I think this has solidified the fact that I am not cut out for human kids!! I told Drew that when we were sitting in the emergency room for the third time!  Next week if she is up to it I am allowed to take her for short walks to get her legs moving again...so she will probably love that. She has been extremely restless today! So I know were are in for a long road ahead of trying to keep her occupied. Usually she is Miss Busy Body always into something.

OMG- we had the SAME conversation!!  We were talking about watching Cookie right now is a 24/7 job, like a newborn.  I said this solidifies the fact that I definately don't want to have (human)  babies.  Its been such hard work!

As for going outside, since Cookie can't walk, we keep taking her outside to sit. She is really good about just sitting there and enjoys being outside.  I think it keeps her mind from getting bored.  Of course, when she gets ancy and tries to move too much we bring her back in.
Its so hard keeping them confined AND entertained.  :verdict:

No new snow here, but there is some in Asheville, NC about 50 miles north. Considering it was 70 degrees this past weekend, that is quite a change. It was only 40 here today and windy. I like the same type of weather you do, Dee Dee. That is the perfect winter weather for me. A little snow would be nice at least once. Otherwise, I'll take the clouds and the 40's.

Me too guys, I could never manage with "hooman puppies".  I'd drive us all nuts!

Valerie when did Cookie go down? Did she have surgery? These things are so hard. I just hate these back problems!!!

Ha, Barb, that is exactly why we went, it was a warm day (45) and this cold front was coming in the next day and will stick around for a week at least so Hallie and I beat feet and paws to the beach while we could.

Exactly Teresa! I would love it if it were stormy like that 75% of the year, sunny and about 70 for 20% and the other 5% could snow and be chilly! And lots of rain at night to keep things green, but dry out by the time we get up in the morning.  :thumb:

As always, great pics.

We had a high of 76 degrees on Saturday...and now the nighttime temp is going to drop to 20 degrees.  Hard to believe that in the first week of January, I was riding my bike only in my shorts and a jersey (and helmet, gloves and protective eyewear, of course!).   Usually, I wear three layers of clothing for riding this time of year.

It's supposed to warm back up to the 50s again by the weekend.   Not too bad.   I'm sure the Zs don't want any snow, given their absolute refusal to go out in the rain.  Zora is even worse than Rudy was when it comes to the rain.   She's quite the princess and by far, the most "indoorsy" of our dacshies...at least until you show her a leash, then she loves her walkies.

Mike

(sigh) Just another of fabulous Hallie pictures we get to see.  Honestly, I think your fence looks good against Hallie's coloring.   I wish we would get some snow.  We had about 6 inches the beginning of Dec and nothing since (other than rain which is so not right for our winter climate).  Please send it to Chicago.

baby is a four legged word around here. Love the wet fuzzy slippers or are they running shoes.......

Please send any excess snow to us and da cold............Last week we had 4 days above 35 nights getting progressively hotter, then a day or two cool and we are off on the same roller coaster again, and we are not getting any rain. So please send snow...Ussually we get one day then a week of high 20's but roll on winter.

I seriously wonder what would my babies do with snow, they would prolly start using the garage for a lawn....

Ok pretty ladies, knock it off.  The rest of us can't compete!

Glad you aren't here, it's a little too much of  good thing.  Bean, the Florida dachsie is anticipating -10 tomorrow.  ##it, I have a lot more insulation, and I'm not too happy about the 5th snowstorm in 6 weeks either!  We figured out today, we've had 70" of snow in 6 weeks.  ENOUGH already, do we have to solve a 5 year drought in less than 2 months?  Wish I could have been with you in Longbeach!  One day...  Frosty dawg kisses.

Dee Dee and Hallie

That is insane David! The weather is nuts. 50 is sounding really good about now.  :thumb:

Mike, next snow storm I see comin' in, I'll go outside and blow east! Maybe some of it will float over to Chicago! Hmmm well now that you mention it the fence isn't too bad...Clifford would disappear more than Hallie he's the same pretty red color!

LOL Roberta, baby is a four letter word indeed! Wish we could send you some of this cold! What does "hot" feel like? I ferget!

Hallie Snowberry! I love it LOL. I would love to see your 4 in the snow for the first time Lauri. For Hallie's first snow (with me anyway) I followed her out the back door with the video camera to catch her reaction on tape. I figured I'd have footage of a doxie hoofin' it back into the house. But she stopped, froze, then BURST down the ramp into the back yard and went wild in the snow, huge runny attack! Not quite what I expected. Right now the ramp is icy so I've convinced her it's OK to potty on the top level of the ramp, it is covered in snow, I'm sure I could never talk her into peein' there when the snow is gone.

Suzie!!! How are you? Oh man...I will stop complaining about our little 3 inches! SEVENTY inches in 6 weeks? Crazy!!! I'll bet two little doxies will be glad to see spring sprung! I wish you could have been with us at Long Beach too....I want to go this weekend (big crab feed!) but I have photo shoots at a dog show Fri thru Sun...I'm ready to go back to the beach now though! It's so impressive in the winter. You'll have to come one day!

Suzie, how are the dogs coping with all that snow?  I know I have to shovel the grass for Clifford if we get more than a couple of inches.  Oh, and are the koi survived in the pond?

Suzie, you just made me think about what my boss was saying yesterday. He was talking about everyone blaming our super warm winter on Global Warming. He said that he didn't think the people in Colorado and the areas getting hit with all the snow right now thought Global Warming was happening! I bet you agree with him.

Hi Mike!  We have veritable cavern dug for the dogs.  Bean has a sweater, and Milo is just a toughie.  Newtie squints and looks miserable, but is an old hand at this. The fish have a circulating pump to keep the water from freezing.  It's a worry though because some of the koi are so big, they need more air.  All in all, we are doing ok.  Spring will come, right?  Give Clifford hugs.

We are in a ICE Storm last I saw it was 23* wind chill 13* it is still sleeting suppose to sleet till Monday so Husband may get a 3 day weekend since he has to drive over several bridges. I just hope we to not loose our power all we have for heat is the Central Air hubby never thinks to get something else to have around for heat. Of course I have the three dogs we could all get together & keep warm maybe I'm sure Buddy would not lay too still.I have to throw out a meatball to get Buddy out the door for a potty break.Never could find a coat for him had one ordered then got a e-mail about 3 weeks later saying they did not have them anymore.Think I will need to get Patches a bigger coat too. We still have the rest of Jan,Feb March to go with the cold.
