Penny's Webcam is LIVE!!

Hi All! We are live today. Currently our internet service provide is blocking the port we need, so to access the website you will need to go to http://www.watchpenny.com:81 (eventually we will get rid of the 81). You might want to bookmark it so you don't have to remember to put the 81 in the web address. If you are using Internet Explorer (or have a bar at the top of the screen - usually yellow) it will ask you to install the ActiveX control (only have to do it once). You will need to do this to view the camera - it doesn't take up room or cause any problems. Also - make sure you put the http in front of it or it won't work in Internet Explorer.

Once you go to the site you will be asked for a user name and password (got to keep our network secure

) so everyone can use:

username: wienerwritings
password: watchpenny

Once you are logged in click the tab at the top that says "single" and there will be Penny :thumb: If it is too washed out then you can adjust the brightness. The default is for the best picture clarity. You are also able to tilt and pan the camera by clicking the buttons on the left. To make the picture go back to normal you can click the middle round button on the left under the word "scan".

The camera won't be on all the time

but quite a bit. Please excuse my pajamas if you happen to catch me on camera

Once she is healed we will mount it outside since she spends a lot of time outside while we are at work and will turn on the audio. But for now we have it mounted above her pen (with no audio). I hope everyone enjoys! Please let Drew or I know if you have problems accessing.

Apparently we are having a few problems with Internet Explorer but Drew is working on it. You can still try it and it may work. For the people that use Firefox there should be no problems.

Drew loves Firefox and thinks it is way better than Internet Explorer (he and I are alwasys fighting about which one is better

) - if anyone wants to download Firefox you can for free at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

It is so funny you just posted that-I had tried to get on and couldn't through explorer. I have Firefox on my laptop-which my husband swears by-and was going to go and get it and try through it. Randy can't stand Explorer either. Says it isn't safe anymore, so I'm using Firefox for everything on the laptop and I guess I should use it for my desktop, too. Now that I've gotten used to it, I like it. I had to laugh when I saw that Internet Explorer 7 took a lot of cool things about Firefox and incorporated them into their layout. Competition works everytime!

I just tried to get to the site (at work) and it wouldn't let me in. I will try when I get home to see if I can from there - I want to see Penny !!!!!

That is so funny Teresa! Drew and I are the same way. Drew figured out the problem - apparently the problem was that Internet Explorer wasn't smart enough to realize that it needed http as the protocol and Firefox was. So I changed the link in my original thread to have the http so no one should have problems

This is GREAT!!! Now I wonder how many people we are going to have with webcams on the board! At first I had a hard time logging in, but that's what happens when I never have to spell Wiener writings, so I was spelling it wrong (it is my home page, so it comes up automatically on the computer). The camera will be great for you when you are away and will give you a lot of reassurance.
P.S. I laughed out loud when I saw the Potty Break note suddenly appear. That's kinda like "Santa is feeding his reindeer-back in 30 minutes"!

Thanks and asking - She is doing good today...moving her legs a lot more.

Just an FYI the username and password are all lowercase and the username is wienerwritings...plural. Don't know if that helps or not.

Thank you for setting up this webcam. What a wonderful idea. It is going to be so nice to actually get to see Penny's progress......

Congratulations, it looks as if Penny is doing well......she should recover nicely

Thanks Cheryl! I thought it would be fun to share her progress with everyone. She is being so good about being in her crate!! This morning she was whining some but for the most part just hanging out. We just move her to wherever we are. Drew bundled her up in her blanket this morning and sat with her on the couch which she loved. Her personality is already coming back and her back legs are getting more movement! Thank you so much for all your input- it has been so helpful

I noticed when you were giving her a treat earlier that her appetite seemed to be back to normal! What I loved most was that cute little tongue! On the webcam, it refreshes with each movement so there was a very slight pause each time she was moving her tongue to lick her lips! Now, that was cute!

She definitely is eating normal and I think it was Mack that said the Prednisone would make her hungry! So every time she hears someone in the kitchen she thinks she needs something to eat. She is also going to the bathroom really well too!

It was ME, not Mack, but I'm sure he's aware of that side affect as Hannah had surgery a couple of years ago. I see Penny lying cozy under her blanket!!!

Awwwwwwwwwww....she was sleeping at first then her head started going back and forth then someone (you Kari?) reached in and have her some pets. What a neat thing this camera!! She looks great, my heart just breaks for her having to be in there. But she sure does look good and I'm sure she'll be herself again soon!
