Willy, Alex and Misty's vet visit

Took the dogs to the vet last friday for shots and check-ups.  All are doing well.  The boys will need teeth cleaning in 6 months.  Misty has a broken tooth and so her appointment is tomorrow to remedy that problem, and clean her teeth.  The doc will either pull it or do a root canal.  Either way, it needs to be fixed or it could lead to infection which could lead to heart, liver, etc. problems down the road.  The best part was when they were weighed.  Alex is 13.8 pounds, down 2 pounds from last year.  Willy is 14.0 pounds, down THREE pounds from last year.  And Misty was the same as last year at 10.8 pounds.  The weight loss is probably due to a lot more exercise.  At the old house the dogs were confined to the deck unless we went for a walk around the block, which we didn't do very often due to all the stray dogs wandering around.  Anyway, at the new house they get out for much more vigorous, off-lead walks in the woods and down our road.  They can really run at the new place. 

Willy and Alex will be 9 years old in January.  The doc said they look really good.  He did start them on Cosequin DS as a preventative measure.   Their weight plays a big part in warding off back problems, of course, and the boys are built with shorter backs than Misty is.  Misty is a very long, slender girl, and we will have to make sure we keep her at the ideal weight she's at now.

Hopefully I can get a holiday picture of the dogs to send out with my Christmas letter, which will mostly likely be late.

That is a great report for all of them !!!!   I didn't know they did root canals on dogs.  Rudy had a cracked/broken tooth and they just pulled it.  Sending Misty rays for a quick procedure tomorrow !

That's great news about the weight Patty!  I know you were a little concerned awhile back. 
It always feels good when they get a clean bill of health from the vet!

That's great they are all so healthy and you have done a great job getting and keeping them so slim! I'm sure they love all the walking at the new place too. Wow, I would have thought Misty was bigger than that, she is smaller than Hallie who is rail thin at 11.5 lbs and I thought SHE looks tiny! My vision of Misty when she was here is that she would be bigger than Hallie. Misty is such a pretty girl.

Let us know how she does with her dental. It will be good to have that over with and teeth all clean and fixed up!
