maggie's left eye is swelling underneath and on top. I called my vet (emergency call) and he said to give her some bendadryl(sp). I do not believe anything has bite that child for we are not out of her sight as of late. Her eye is very sore and runny. It could be a stye or some kind of blockage. My mind is going crazy till I can get her to the vet in the am. Any advice for one worried mother.  Thanks to all ... Happy Halloween

I am thinking its probably a stye or an eye infection, but I'm not sure.  Just try and keep it clean till tomorrow.  Sorry I can't help more.

Were you able to find out anything about her eye?

Maggie went to the vet on Wed. SHe has a viral infection and on top of that her eye was really not the problem. Maggie had developed an ucler in the side of her mouth and it made her act strange. My doc said if I had not of brought her in the ucler would of became an abcess tooth. I am learning all the time with this daschund . I guess each one is different. Mags got a shot (ouch) and now is on medication. Has anyone else heard of this. THanks for all the concern. Seems when are babies are sick we are sick as well. :ambulance: :bandaid: :angel4:

The best thing you did was to take her in !  So often what we think it is may be a result of something else.  The meds should clear it up !!  Rays to Maggie!

Mike had this same problem with his dog in August.  Do a search for "lump".  His dogs lump was under the eye.  He had pictures.  I think the title of the thread was lumpy-face?  We had the same problem with our oldest dog last year and we were not sure what it was either.  I thought it was a cyst or something but it was an abscess of the tooth.

thanks for the info I did look up lumps and found what you were speaking about. I was lucky that the tooth was not abscessed it could of been so easy. Maggie is doing better she is eating and taking her meds but, she still does not want to play. If she could any closer to me we would have the same skin. She wants me to hold her 24/7 and I can not having to work.  Thanks to everyone to being concerned about maggie. :hello2: :hkiss:
