Yesterday the kidz were out while DH and I were raking leaves.  Loki was digging a hole like a demon possessed, yanking out tree roots and spinning around the hole like Linda Blair's head in the Exorcist.

I went inside to grab some lunch and when I came out DH was in the back with the gate off the fence, repairing the lock.  Mind you, this side of the yard is parallel to the busiest road in the 'burg.  I check on Loki, who is now down about 18" and covered in dirt.  I start looking for Zuzu.  I start calling her.  She is NOWHERE to be found.

I look at the gate laying on the ground and freaking PANIC.  I start calling her louder and louder and search the ENTIRE yard.  Then I get DH to check inside the house and now I am really in a panic and start looking on the other side of the fence.  No Zuzu.  I am really scared now, and am ashamed to say called DH all kinds of bad names and threatened divorce and I could feel my heart in my throat thinking she has ventered out onto a road that I won't even cross in my car.

Finally I start shouting "Squirrel! Squirrel!" and I hear rustling leaves behind me.  Here the little booger was deep in the "woods", in the weeds and ensnared in an old string fence. (the kind you use for a pea trellis) and was totally stuck. She had never made a sound the whole time I was calling her. I about peed myself in relief.  We cut her out of the string and decide it's time to get everyone inside.

Loki, however, had other ideas.  She would not leave her hole.  She snarled and growled and even a PIECE OF CHEESE wouldn't get her away from it.  Finally I lure her with an apple while DH rolls a big log into the hole.  Loki runs back to the hole, looks briefly at the hole and then runs up to DH and bites him!  :ambulance: DH &^%@!)+*'s  and dances around the yard.  Finally we get the kidz inside.  After about 5 minutes, THEY'RE both asleep in the sun and DH is bleeding and I'm in tears.  Oy.

Nothing to do after that but crawl under the blankie with them.

Oh wow!! You had a scary day yesterday!!!  I'm sure your DH will forgive you, he should understand you were just worried and upset.  I hope his bite is healing ok.  What an ordeal!    :comfort: Don't feel bad about how you reacted, I've done the same thing before.  :doah:

Your poor hubby!  Loki must have been really upsetting about Daddy ruining all of her hard work!

R'uh r'oh.  Sure hope that bite is feeling better today.  Hope both parties concerned (DH and Loki) have forgiven each other.  Loki wild woman is SERIOUS about her hole, geez Louise.  Is everyone friends again?  Hopin' for the best.

Whoooo-eee. One of those days it would have paid to stay in bed. There was some serious Monty Python going on over there for the neighbors to watch! Glad it was all OK in the end, but I could feel your terror in there....this is one of many reasons I am not married no one could live with ME as neurotic as I am about the dawg stuff.

Here's hoping you win the lotto and can hire your yard work done, while you and the kids watch from under the comforter out the kitchen window!

Hope all is better now!  They sure can be "pig-headed" about some things!
