Katie's other cousin dog, Jade the Aussie Shepherd

Hi friends...please keep my Mom's 12.5 yr old Aussie Shepherd, Jade in your prayers. She is dying. Her kidneys are failing. Mom took her to the vet on Friday and after many tests and a long talk Mom brought her home for the weekend. She is barely eating but does drink water and is holding that down. Tomorrow I am going out to Mom's to help her get Jade over to the vet for the last time. It will be a sad day. (will be hard not to think of Finn) Mom adopted Jade five years ago after her sweet, funny, mutt dog, Lilly went to the bridge. Jade was 7 and the people at the Humane Soc. kept trying to talk her into a younger dog. But Mom stood her ground and said, "An old lady needs an old dog." So the last five years of Jade's life have been very good ones. She has been greatly loved and well cared for.
But on an up note...Jessica called me last night and asked if I thought Mom would want to adopt Hemi. She admitted that they made a mistake bringing Gunny into the house b/c it has been since his arrival that Hemi has been 'acting out' (pooping and peeing all over the house and being a generally obnoxious doxie). He needs to be an only dog and Mom could give him a wonderful home, plus the little kids would still get to see him. It would be better all the way around to be honest. So, I mentioned it to Mom when we talked last night and she seemed open to the idea. This morning she called me and said she had called Jessica and told her that she will take Hemi! Not until next month though. I am going to give her all my Doxie books and will help her get him settled in. He is going to be in 'tall cotton' when he lives w/ Mom!!
So...a very bittersweet time for our family...all prayers, rays, etc., will be appreciated!!

Oh Kathy - I am so sorry for your mom - what a loving thing she did by taking Jade in and giving her a loving home.  Keeping all of you in my prayers - Godspeed sweet Jade.....

On a happy note - that is great that your mom will have Hemi - it will help her - and it sounds like what Hemi needs too.
