Please send out rays and prayers for Skeeter.  Friday night she was lethargic and not acting like herself, so we took her into the emergency vet.  The neurological exam didn't reveal anything, but she seemed to be in some pain so the doctor gave us some pain pills and sent her home.

Late Sunday/early Monday Kevin noticed blood on the sheets where she had been licking.  She had not eaten all day, had still been lethargic all weekend, so we took her to the emergency vet again.  The blood turned out to be a bit of gum disease.  It's the least of her problems right now.  The emergency vet didn't like the way she was standing, but still couldn't locate the source of her pain.

Not being ones to give up, Kevin took Skeeter to our regular vet this morning, and they did an x-ray that revealed a slipped disk.

Skeeter will stay at the vet overnight for observation.  They will try to treat her medically, and hope she will not not need surgery.  The vet is supposed to call us this evening with an update on her condition.

The thought of surgery scares me because I am not sure that a ten-year-old dog will do well after back surgery.  Also, we spent thousands when Leopold had cancer.  I honestly do not know where we would get another 3-4 thousand for back surgery.  So I am frightened for all of us.

Please keep us in your thoughts.
