Hi All! Wow...what an amazing few weeks this has been. On Aug. 11 (the day after all the terrorist stuff in England) I flew to Des Moines, Iowa...minus any liquids, to attend the 'goldensonly first litter puppy pawty'!!! In total Seven of us gals from the forum flew or drove to the forum owner/ breeders home and stayed for the weekend! it was SO MUCH FUN!!! Between adult dogs and puppies we had 17 there!
On Monday, Aug.14th Katie and I flew from Des Moines to Seattle...she came on board w/ me in a carry on crate. (her trip cost $85). She was the best girl the whole trip!!! I did give her four drops of Rescue Remedy before we left the hotel and I know that made a difference...but I'm finding that she is just a fine, quiet girl most of the time.
Katie and her littermates turned 10 weeks today and they are already starting to look more like dogs than puppies. It happens SO fast!
I will share a couple pictures with you for now...more later!
Some day I hope to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am!!

She looks well worth the wait Kathy, what a little doll! I love the story on how you got her. She is a lucky little girl. She's going to do a lot to heal your heart too. Congrats!

I've been waiting, somewhat impatiently, to hear about your meeting with Katie and see pictures. You will have to post more because one certainly is not enough! I'm sure you are having a lot of fun and quickly puppy proofing your house!

I promise to share more pictures...right now I am spending a lot of my day going outside with her and coming in and going out and coming in...you know what I mean! lol She's catching on though...yesterday she went right to the back door and cried. When I took her out she did both! What a good girl!!
Yes, she is WELL worth the wait...I can feel Finn smiling down on us. He is glad we have a bundle of gold to love now. I still miss him but the pain isn't as great now that Katie has arrived!!
Oh, here's a cute picture for you...she could hear Steve in the bedroom and she wanted him to come out!

AWWW!!! What an adorable puppy!!!!   She sure is pretty!  I love the picture of her standing on the baby gate, that is the cutest!!!   How lucky she is to have you for a new humom!

Teresa

And I wonder just how long she had to stand at that gate before she got picked up? I bet it wasn't very long. That is such a sweet picture. I'm sure you have a camera around all the time now. Finn is probably sending golden thoughts to Katie so she will know just what you need and when you need it. Enjoy those sweet puppy cuddle moments. She will not fit in your lap very long (but she will always think she will fit in your lap!)

Oh, believe me, Teresa...I pick her up and hold her every chance I get!! She is so cute and fuzzy right now! And little.
Our last Golden, Finn thought he was a lap dog at 116 lbs!! Too heavy for me!!

What a great picture and what a pretty new baby Miss Katie is!  I suspect it won't be long until that baby gate doesn't hold her back!  LOL!  Congrats...she is just precious!

:thumb:  She's absolutely adorable.  I remember when Abbie was that small and I could still pick her up and hold her in my arms.  Lately she has been trying to become a lap dog as she'll eventually put her paws and head in my lap (from her sitting position) while I'm petting her.  It's very hard to revert her back to her sitting position.

I've been holding her and carrying her as much as possible b/c I know in the coming few weeks she will be TOO BIG!!
Our Golden, Finn wanted SO bad to be a lap dog...but he was 116 lbs!
Hugs to Abbie!!

Me, too Roberta! He is smiling down on us saying, "My work here is done," and is on his way to play with all his pupper friends at the bridge!
I love holding Katie...except when she's in her puppy 'bitey-bitey' place! Which is usually in the morning but can occur at any given moment! lol Those pointy little teeth hurt!  :ambulance:
She is doing well...just like a baby...one night we sleep great the next not so great and she needs to go outside every two hours. I believe it's her system getting used to the food she is on which is Canidae. I was telling the gal at the only pet store in town that sells this food that Katie was having a hard time getting used to it. When I told her it was mainly loose stools or the trots she suggested an enzyme powder by Solid Gold. I put it on her food (1/8 tsp) every time she eats. I am hoping that she will come around soon and that her system will get used to this food. It's kind of frustrating but I know it will turn around. All the other puppies were dealing w/ the same thing being on this same food so I know she is not alone! I have never fed a more premium dog food than Nutro to my dogs so this is a new one for me. It's kind of spendy, since I'm not working right now...but I promised Martha, the breeder I would put her on this since it is what the pups had started eating. As this bag gets closer to the end I may opt to put her on Nutro Max Lamb and Rice which is what Finn ate. It's a good food and rates an 'A' I believe on that dog food list.

She is just so adorable - I would be holding her all the time too !!!  I love the baby gate picture......the gate won't hold for long !!!!  LOL !!!!   I know Finn is happy for you and glad you have Katie to fill your heart again...... Keep those pictures coming !

Here's a picture of the group I was with in Iowa...we have all been on the same forum (owned by Martha who is also Katie's breeder) for three years!

:dontknow:  When I brought Abbie home, I actually set my alarm to get up at night and take her out every two hours.  I trained her all too well as she's ready to go out at 0400.  Whew!  That's early!   :doah:  I'm usually up by 0430 on week days anyway, but it makes sleeping in on the weekends almost impossible.

I pick her water bowl up around 7:30pm and then she goes out right before we go to bed. If she doesn't have poopin' issues she will sleep ALL NIGHT w/o making a sound. But the nights she has issues we are up frequently. I will be glad when she gets used to this food!

Teresa

I LOVE the picture of everyone and their pups. You must have all had a blast that weekend. I'm sure the forum is busy now with everyone comparing puppy stories. I hope Katie gets used to her food soon. I agree with you about possibly changing her to the Nutro after you finish this bag, especially if it doesn't seem to agree with her system.

Thanks, Frankys Mom!! WE adore her!!!

Teresa, I went to the store and bought a small bag of Nutro Large Breed Puppy Lamb and Rice for Katie today and also a can of pumpkin. She had 3/4 of a cup of food and a spoon of pumpkin for lunch and then the same for dinner. After she was done with dinner she went to the door of my hobby room where the food is kept and sat staring at the door and wagging her tail! I gave her more since she hadn't eaten much the past few days. She gobbled it down too! And already the potty issues seem to have improved greatly! So, looks like we will stay with Nutro!
