Toby did really well with the neurologist.  He is usually timid around strangers but he took right to her.   It looks like what he has been experiencing are indeed seizures and most probably caused by his head injury.  This could very well account for the aggressive episodes as well as the halucinations.  He has to go back tomorrow for the day for observation and an MRI in the afternoon but I am feeling as if we might be getting to the bottom of this.  As soon as we get all of the test results back we will start him on meds to control this.
So.... I was driving home with him and I experienced the absolute worst rage I think I have ever felt.  I cannot get past the fact that someone hurt him like that.  I am normally opposed to violence but at that moment I could have seriously hurt the person who did this to him.  I am trying to get past it but it's difficult.  I just look at his sweet little trusting face and I simply cannot fathom the level o pain and suffering that this so called person has inflicted on him. I mean, honestly, how much more does he have to go through because some sorry SOB decided to take out there issues on a defenseless little dog.  I do not get it.
Sorry about this, just venting the fury I suppose.
Thanks or the rays and prayers everyone....  I appreciate all of you so much!

Terri, concerning your rage, you are absolutely right in feeling it.  There are some real monsters out there in the world.  There are evil people who take their sh*t out on innocent animals and kids.  I cry over the Tobys in the world.  Toby was a lucky one, he got rescued.  What about all the abused and neglected ones out there that we haven't found yet.  The lucky ones are in the rescue system awaiting loving homes.  Toby is lucky to have you!  Its really terrible what some weak and pathetic idiot out there will take their rage out on a defenseless being.  All the more reason for all of us to continue towards our goal of exposing the abuse and promoting rescue and adoption.

I think Toby's vet will be able to help him control the seizures.  Medication seemed to work on Harry.  The seizures happened less often and weren't as severe when they did happen.  Its just like with a person who has suffered a blow to the head.  I think Harry had a head injury, too, but I think it was from a fall.  He had a torn eye lid when he came to me at the age of 6 months.

Rays to Toby.    :comfort:

I've been waiting all day to hear this...it's great it's getting diagnosed and can be properly treated now! But I totally agree with you on the rage issue, you both said it well...I'm sure all of us here are feeling the same thing. That poor sweet little boy...there really are a lot of evil people out there. I don't get it....but Toby is now one of the lucky ones. Bless you for giving him a chance!

It sounds very encouraging.....and I am so glad for his mama and family that are willing to do all this for him.  You are special and Toby is one lucky fella !!!

As for your rage......we all here are right with you.......never should these sweet animals suffer what some of them have to.  It is horrendous and I can't stand it either.

Sending Toby rays in full force that his next visit goes well and they can help him !!!!

Once again Toby has gotten the tears going.  This time they are partially out of relief that he should be okay, but also they are out of the same type of anger that you feel about someone doing something like that to a creature that is so defenseless.
Your rage is understandable. You have seen the results of what this person did to Toby and have also seen the sweet, trusting dog that Toby is in spite of all of it. I'm so glad that Toby has you to take care of him now. He has the life he should have had all along, and because he was rescued by you, it SHOULD be a long, happy one. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for him.

Rays are coming for Toby!  I have to agree with all that the folks have said here and I know how you feel about the anger of the previous owners.  I feel the same in regard to Looie's past and all that we have been going through with him!  Toby is a lucky pupper that he was rescued by you!  Hugs to you all and belly rubs to the furkids!

I feel your rage, but he has you and your family.
Which brings me to last sat night, we had visitors, first for a long while. OLiver, we got at 18 months and the only thing we knowfrom the breeder was they did not want him as they were going overseas. He has always been "sensitive" and when poor Russell only wanted to say hello and tried every bribe he was terrified. we will never know what happened to him in that time before we got him, we think he must have been abused, and we would, like you give the sob a taste of their own medicine. It took about a day for him to calm down.

Oh, poor Oliver.....it's so hard when we see them like that and can't figure out why or what we can do to help them.  I'm glad you were able to calm him down.  Smooches to your sweet boy..... and a few extra treats probably are in order as well!  :)

I'm happy to hear there may be some help for Toby.  You are a wonderful person to take this on and not give up as so many would do.

(I can't post my thoughts on what should be done to the person who caused Toby's situation.  Even watching Animal Planet rescue shows gets me so riled I can hardly stand it.)

This is the LEAST of what I think should be done...
