I was so impressed at how well behaved Porky was with the baby I watched yesterday!  He just laid on my lap and cuddled with the baby as I fed her.  It was so adorable!!  Brianna is only two months and I could tell she felt comforted to have Porky sit with her.

Porky did something quite amazing today.  He certainly gave my husband and I a good laugh over it.  We went out on the boat this morning while it was still cool outside.  And porky was in the water swimming around and suddenly he dove under the water.  It frightened both of us as we were not sure what Porky was doing.  Then Porky came bounding back out of the water and jumped onto the dock.  WHen we looked at him he had something hanging out of his mouth.  Porky had caught a fish!  Since Porky grabbed the fish by the tail, it was slapping him in the face.  It was so hilarious!!  I really wish I would have had the video camera to capture that!

Way to go Porky! What kind of fish was it? Did you get to have it for supper? Did the water feel good to you? Have a good week little buddy :thumb:

Kelly,
Porky caught a trout.  We had Porky deliver the fish to his hugrandma for her to cook for supper.  She was pretty impressed.  Porky would live in the lake if we let him!!

That is very impressive with the fish.  If he did it once, he'll probably do it again.   Take the video camera next time!

You know that story - something like "if you feed a man a fish, you feed him for a day.  If you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime!"  Way to go, Porky!  I guess you can fend for yourself if you get stranded near the lake, huh?   :thumb:

Nice work Porky Pie!
It was interesting to see this post this morning.  I picked up a magazine on dachshunds at Pet Smart over the weekend.  There was an article in it about long haired dachsies who are able to retrieve water fowl and fish.  My buelah LOVES to be in the water...she is a long hair.  Both of my boys (short reds) think that it's akin to jumping into a vat of acid.  NO WAY!
Porky is a long hair, right?

Terri,
Porky is actually a shorthair.  But, that article you mentioned sounds very interesting.  I haven't seen many shorthaired weiners that do like the water as much as Porky.  I think Porky caught the fish because it was something that moved.  He likes catching anything that moves.

That is an amazing story! I would have loved to see that on tape too. Like David says, take your video camera maye he'll do it again. That's really cool! My Jessie liked to swim (but she never dove!) I haven't really tried Hallie, I was thinking of getting her a blow up swimming pool though for some hydrotherapy, it should be warm enough by this weekend to do that outside. I can pretty much guarantee she'd never dive like that though she woudnt' want to mussie up her hair lol.
