My puppy has been born!!!!

    Yesterday morning I was on my Golden forum and it looked like Mama Gretchen was going to be having her puppies within 24 hours. I got offline to do some things and I get a phone call from a gal on the forum,"Why aren't you on the forum???Your puppy has been born!" So I jump online right away (well, as fast as this dang dial-up will let me!lol) and by golly Gretchen had given birth to four puppies while I was offline...two boys and two girls. Needless to say, I was on the forum w/ 17 other gals for over two hours chatting and waiting on more info from Martha, the gal who owns Gretchen. In the end there were 12 puppies born, one little male died not long after birth bringing the grand total to 11!! So, in that 11 is our Katie! Six boys and five girls...they are just SO cute...one little boy and one little girl are being watched closely as they are smaller and it's taking more effort to keep them feeding and warm but they seem to be doing fine right now. The pups are adorable.  Did you request a male or a female?  I remember when I brought Abbie home.  I could hold her in my arms.  I can't do that now as she weighs 70lbs.

I am so excited for you. I'm sure you are already counting down the days now. Will you be able to see Katie before you go and get her. I think its great that you can get updates on her from the forum and have a great group of people excited for you there, also. Between your Golden friends and Doxie friends Katie is going to have lots of aunts!!

We are getting a female this time! We've always had male dogs and Steve said it would be a nice change to have a female!! Martha will be watching them for me...she knows temperment is top on my list...I want the pup w/ the closest temperment to Mama dog...she is a sweet girl. Yes, those goldens grow FAST!! Glad I'm flying w/ her at eight weeks...any older and she'd be really heavy! Our golden boy, Finn was 29" tall and weighed 116 lbs! I'm hoping my Katie will be around the same weight as her Mama, which is around 55 lbs. I am SO excited!!
Martha posted this morning that she slept out by the whelping box last night and talk about noisy! The video only shows eight of them...add three more to that noise! lol Right now Martha has 16 goldens in her home! Yikes!! When she took Gretchen to the vet today for her clean out shot she took the two tiniest pups, one male and one female. The vet felt the female would do just fine but was concerned about the male. He said he isn't sure if the little guy will make it. So please send rays and prayers for the little guy...we've nicknamed him Waylon!!

I'm excited too! (in case you hadn't noticed!) We'll be choosing Katie w/in 3 or 4 weeks I think! The gathering at Martha's is growing too. Was just going to be myself and Stacey, the other gal getting a puppy. Now there are people from our forum from all over the country who are going to be there!!! What fun!

When I look at that picture of Hemi and I it makes me smile...nothin' sweeter than dachsie granddog kisses!!!
