Okay so I have three, whats one more?  I just found this little guy on the Florida Dachshund Rescue website.  I figure I'm one of those crazy people who has more dogs than people living in the house so why not????
Now I just have to convince the husband!  Ohhhhhhh  this is just sooooooooo tempting!
I'll let you know if we decide to apply!

Barb,
We have talked about one more so I keep checking the rescue websites from time to time...this little guy (Teddy) just caught my eye.  After reading his bio from his foster mom I was pretty sold.  He would be a perfect fit I think....
As I said though we are just thinking about it.  Hubby is not as sold as I am.  :(
Of course, he hasn't seen this little man!

Spanish Teckels

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!

By golly, what a handsome boy.  I´d be severaly tempted and wouldn´t be able to resist either.  I have had teckels (dachsies) all my life and my parents too, but never a wire before Red.  Miguel. my husband, had always wanted a dog (this is the boy who walked around Menorca in the Summer with Menorcan cheese in his pocket to give to the strays and bring them home for his Mum, who promptly kicked them out again...).  He´d never had a dog, let alone a dachsie, then when we got married I said either with teckels or no marriage.  Our first together was Red, our roan wire.  We had had him only 2 weeks when Miguel wanted to try to get his owner to let us have his sister too.....we didn´t manage it, but 9 months later Islay came along and Miguel is as addicted as I am now and has been heard to say he couldn´t live without either of them - he can manage a few weeks without me....

Now, I know your hubbie already knows the pleasures of dachsiedom - you have most of the "battle" won - just a caution:  think of every single dachsie characteristic you know - enchanting and a little more stubborn & difficult - multiply by 1000 and that´s your typical wire for you!  All the best multifold - but one heck of a lot of character all around too!

We´d never be without a wire now - and this little guy looks so sweet, but a smoothie or a mellow long alonside is a great balancing idea.

Wishing you all the convincing luck in the world and hoping this works out the best way for you all.

My vote is YES! Wires are a definite minority in this country (USA) but I don't know why. Ilsa is our first wire (after 2 longs and a doxie/poodle mix) and I can't imagine life without her! If she is any indication, they are clowns, stubborn, but the most loving. She can be a little yappy when she gets excited but that doesn't usually last very long unless she's at a field trial or earthdog test. Ron (my husband) has dubbed her Little Lady Yaps A Lot. Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong with a wire. Good luck on the convincing of the husband.

Here is Ilsa as a baby

And here she is all grown up. Not groomed, though.

The only wire that I have been around is Miz Ilsa Pilsa and she is a sweetie.  She is so cute and friendly and when she and Lily get together, they try to see who can out "yap" the other.  I hadn't seen Ilsa's baby pic before.  How adorable!!! I say go for it!!! You can never have too many doxies!!!
