I spent last week in New York with my mom and just got home (absolutely exhausted) on Sunday night.  So off to bed I went a bit early with my three babies.  In the middle of the night they started making that ruff sound in the throats that isin't quite a bark, but almost.  After trying to shush them for awhile I finally got up to see what it was that they were having such a fit about.  Off to the window I went not knowing that my husband had removed the screen to repair it.  The window was closed because the air conditioning was on.  There is a large rubber tree right outside of the window and I figured that the wind was making it hit the window and thought I could push it back.  As I threw open the window a BIRD flew right into my face!  Yep....sure enough a Mourning Dove has nested on the windowsill.  Flapping wings....screaming ME....barking dogs....it was quite a scene!
Now there is a bird frantically flying all over the bedroom, I am hysterical, my husband is running around with me trying to get the three overexcited dachsies OUT of the bedroom.  Not an easy task as a bird in the house equals good hunting for Oscy and Toby!  We finally managed to get her out and back to the nest and slammed the window shut.  This is at 3AM!  Needless to say it took awhile for the heart rate to get back to normal.  The neighbors must have thought we were having a party!  LOL....
Then...just to make the night PERFECT, Miss Buelah decided that the excitement was enough to make her pee all over the carpet.

I hate that it happened to you, but I sure needed a good laugh at the end of a long workday. The visual is hilarious. It almost sounds like a Leslie story! I can't imagine opening a window and a bird flying at me, especially in the middle of the night. Wonder what the dogs will be doing tonight-waiting for a repeat performance? Hope it is uneventful and restful.

What a WILD night!  At least Beaulah didn't pee on the bed......something my hooligan Madderoo wouldn't hesitate to do in such a circumstance.  What a visual!
