Today is Leopold's gotcha day! :apls: We found this scruffy little longhaired boy in the Omaha Humane Society and for the last 13 years we've shared love, laughter, exasperation and sometimes mutual frustration with this little hellion.  We also had some heartbreak.  Last year as most of you know, Poldie was diagnosed with bone cancer and lost his left, rear leg.  That was bad enough, but the prognosis for this type of cancer is usually terminal within 4 to 12 weeks after diagnosis.  That was in December.  We treasured every day with him and when he hit the first landmark of 4 weeks, we held our breath, then came 6 weeks, then 12 weeks and we thought "he just might make it to his gotcha day!"  Well 13 is a lucky number after all because he is stilll going strong. :thumb: His health has always been somewhat fragile and frankly, Jeri and I wondered if he was going to make it this far even without the cancer, after all he is almost 14. He gets around quite well on 3 legs thank you, and his main health problem is his chronic lung illness.  We know his progress was due to the Lord and your prayers and rays.  Thank you all.  We have not been as active on the board for various reasons but we try to keep up and always offer prayers and rays to all that need them, they certainly do help.  Anyway we began the carnival of spoiling the Pold last weekend when he shared burgers from the grill, extra treats through the week, Frosty Paws tonight and tomorrow STEAK!  :headbang: (and probably eggies at some point)  And of course Skeeter and Boone are sharing in the jubilee.  They really love their brother even though they topple him at times when running for the breakfast dishes.  He takes it in stride and is still the fastest thing on 3 legs.  Cheers from all of us!  Kevin, Jeri & Leopold Skeeter and Boone (the 3 Little Bops)

Wow...that put a tear in my eye!! HAPPY GOTCHA DAY Leopold!!! What a great guy he is and he couldn't have found a better home to spend those 13 years with. :) He has a lot to live for, I think you and Jeri can take most of the credit for him still being around. Sounds like a great ongoing party there! Give him some belly rubs for us. Hallie says, some of the best doxies come from the animal shelters.  :thumb:
