First I want to apologize for the delay in getting Treat Box 3C in the mail.  It is ready to mail, and I will be going to the post office at noon today to send it on its way.

Here is an email I sent to my mom this morning, an update on the new house.
GROWING PAINS:
Hi Mom,
Yesterday morning I felt lousy with bad cramps and called in sick to work.  When Dan was ready to leave for work, he told me that we didn't have any water.  So then I really felt sick.  Dan called Jeff (builder) at 7:30 and told him.  Todd (builder asst.) came out at 8:30, and there I am looking like death, and he checked everything in the crawl space.  Everything was okay under the house, seems the problem is at the well.  The pump guy is going to the house this morning.  Everyone thinks its the pump in the well casing.  Dan said that since it failed so soon after we moved in, it was probably defective to begin with, and is still under warranty.  And Jeff said that the well didn't run dry or anything because if it had, there would have been a lot of debris in the filters under the house.  So hopefully its nothing major or too hard to fix.

I had a real fun day yesterday with no running water.  Thankfully we had just topped off the water trough over the weekend, and it was full of clean water.  I used a gallon jug to get water from the trough to pour into the toilet to get it to flush.  That worked great.  This morning I went over to the old house to take a shower and get ready for work.  We keep bottled water on hand and had plenty to drink and make tea with.

Joan (my sister from Juneau) is supposed to stay with us Monday night, but part of the road into our place is a lake.  (No water in the house, but plenty in the surrounding area.....go figure!)  Not the part we built, but the Borough road we drive on to get to our road (it needs a culvert).  Joan's rental might not make it, and she might have a hard time since she doesn't know the quirks of the road.  I emailed her and suggested she park her rental car at Fred Meyer and I could take her to our house for dinner, then get her back to Fred Meyer so she can drive her rental to the Morelands (sister Mary and brother-in-law/builder Jeff).  Its still light out at 9pm so she won't have to drive in the dark.

The dogs are probably adjusting to the new house faster than me at this point.  I was pretty upset over the water thing, and even more upset that I was feeling depressed instead of happy being in my new house.  But I do understand what's going on with me.  I have a hard time with change, even when its a good change.  I know this about myself and should cut myself more slack.  My personal motto is to always give something two weeks before I form an opinion about it.  April is a muddy, messy month everywhere in our area.  The water is draining off our knoll really well, we have a little stream running down the side of the road.  In about 4 weeks we will witness the leaves coming out, and I am really looking forward to that.  Our place will be pretty in no time.  I also have to remember that I have been on this "high" for the past 7 months as our place was being built, and now its reality time and things are settling into everyday routine.

The horse's corral is draining off pretty well, and we must have done something right because the inside of the barn and surrounding grounds outside the horse barn door is DRY!

Pepper is making regular appearances, back to her old self almost, rolling over onto her back for bellyrubs, and purring a lot when I hold her.

Its been hard settling into a new routine and trying to get the dogs to feel comfortable.  They broke out of three different set-ups we put together for them to spend their days.  Finally bought two wire pens that we can hook together and make them a big area in our tiled entry.  They seem okay with that.  NOW, since Todd has to go inside the house this morning to turn stuff on and off for the plumber, I had to set the dogs up in the upstairs bathroom so they don't bark their heads off at Todd.  The pens are made of eight 24" wide x 30" high panels each, which fold up flat when not in use, so they are easy to move around and set up.  They will be handy for when we have a party and need to have the dogs contained, we can set it up anywhere.

Okay, enough of my whining.  I only have to look out my big picture windows to remind myself that I am in a beautiful place that is all mine, someplace Dan and I worked really hard for.  Since I was home yesterday, I wore the dogs out with several walks in "our" woods.

Well lady, you've had lots of changes lately.  Give yourself a break.  Give a dachsie a zerbert, give a kitty belly rubs.....or the other way around if you wish   Things will get smoothed out......just give it time.  Look at what you and Dan have accomplished.  AWESOME!

Thanks Sandi, you have always been a great cheering section.  I keep telling myself "no one is dead", so we can get through anything.

ITS NOT THE WELL OR THE PUMP!!!
Its a timer in the crawl space that wasn't putting out enough voltage to handle the job.  Its being replaced with a bigger one.

Jeff went out with the pump guy and they hooked a generator up to the pump at the well and it took right off.

For the next couple of days we will have to conserve water until our storage bladder fills up again.

Whew!

I think that what your going through is perfectly normal Patty!  When we moved to Florida I was super excited for months.  Packed up my old house and looking for a new one down here was FUN!  Then we got here and I was so sad.  I felt really at loose ends for awhile.  Happily, it didn't last long and I am sure it won't for you either.  Just hang in there and try and take it as it comes.  At least your getting your water situation straightened out.  No water=no FUN!
Maybe a nice warm bath in your gorgeous new bathroom would help?  That and a glass of wine!  :)
Take care of YOU!
Hugs......

Thanks for understanding, Terri, and relating your story about your move to Florida.  I should know myself by now.  I will be so stoked about something and then there is this anti-climax thing that happens once it becomes a reality.  That is why I have always said that the journey is part of the fun.  I'm comfortable in a rut, and I like it when things feel like a comfortable pair of old shoes.  No wonder I've been at the same job for 27 years!

Thanks Barb.  I am looking forward to watching the seasons change thru those big windows.  It was snowing this morning, and it looked real pretty with the flood lights on.  This is a late season snow, a fluke, our temps have been in the low 40's and everything is melting.
The treat box is in my car, and I even have the check for postage halfway filled out so I don't waste any time at the post office.
