This morning, not 45 minutes after she had skipped down the hall for a drink of water, I looked over at her in her bed & she had died. She had a runny nose & a cough, but this was devastating.

Necropsy scheduled for tomorrow. There are no words to express my sorrow.

Guess I'm not an Auntie any more. :crybaby2:.

We are so very sorry for your loss and stunned how sudden it has been.  May sweet Ima Dora Belle rest in peace.  Our thoughts are with you.

You will always be auntie Keren to all of us.

You will always be an Auntie as Aima lives on in your heart.
There's nothing like having a dachshund tongue up your nose at 3 a.m.

Thank you all.

Got a call from the pathologist. She had a low grade bronchitis, which is why she had a cough for the last three years. It never showed on x-rays or in blood work, which we did both in 2012 & last month. There appears to be a staph infection that lodged in the lungs that suddenly overwhelmed her system. He's going to culture it to confirm.

It reminds me of the sudden death of Jim Henson, who died of Type A pneumonia. He died only a few days after "getting a cold." By the time he got to the ER he was in total organ failure & there was nothing they could do.

Life is short & there are no guarantees. Hug your puppers extra hard tonight & everybody have eggies for breakfast in memory of Aima Dora Belle, AKC Kafon's Ima Red Neck. (Can you see why I changed her kennel name? LOL!!)

Poor little girl.  I am so very sorry.

Red and Islay are getting frosted now and I am hugging them extra close and appreciate every single moment with them.

What a mouthful Aima's pedigree name was!

Hugs going out to you too Auntie Keren and warm spanish teckel slurpy kisses too.

So sorry to hear this!  You know you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Keep the good memories closed to your heart, it will help a little.  In my opinion, once an Auntie, always an Auntie.  You will meet again at the Bridge.  I firmly believe that.  Hope you feel better sooner than later.

Handle every "Situation" like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
tinkle on it and walk away.

Poor puppy. Poor mom. May your grief be lessened every day.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Unexpected ones are particularly hard.  I can certainly see why you changed Aima's name!  We will have eggs in her honor tomorrow - since we missed this post somehow.  I thought I was staying up-to-date - sigh.
