Things have become rather alarming here regarding Bonnie's toe and it might have been my fault!  :doah:  I had devised a "sock" for her so that in addition to the inner tube, she couldn't get to the foot because it was in a sock.  When I took the sock off today, I was shocked.  Her whole foot was swelled.  Kind of looked like a cartoon dog.  It was pretty bad.  Well, I immediately put her in a cool soak with this vile stuff from her vet and then called his office.  I KNEW he was out today attending a conference but his wife got a hold of him and now we've moved her surgery up to tomorrow.  Even better than original date because I will have more time with her before I have to go back to work.   I hope the whole foot isn't infected.  I do think with the soaks and extra antibiotic pill she got early today has caused the swelling to go down a bit.

Rays to Bonnie for surgery tomorrow, please.  She hopefully will come home only one toe lighter.

She has been soooo brave.  She doesn't even lift the foot like it hurts but continues to insist jumping off the futon when she smells something going on in the kitchen.

Not sure if you used co-ban ( horse vet wrap ) same stuff hospitals use on IV sites if you did co-ban when it gets warm from the body temperature it can tighten all by it self. Any time you put something on a dog you need to check it often if infected that can also cause swelling so many reason s can cause swelling so do not beat yourself up about it even the infection being in the bone is really bad so best to have the offending nail removed. Rays & Hugs to you both, good luck when she has the surgery.

Handle every "Situation" like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
tinkle on it and walk away.

Poor, brave little BobBon.  We hope the surgery went well and both of you are feeling better already.

Bonnie is out of surgery and doing well.  Dr. Kevin says she's a GOOD GIRL.  We pick her up today at 4:30.  I have an ex-pen ready for her when we are not watching her.  Doc seems to think that this will heal up nicely with a bandage change on Tues.....he does that.  I'm glad we're on the road to recovery for this sweet senior wiener.

Here's a picture my friend, Teresa, took of her right before she was carted of to the Room of Doom.

Thank you ebberybody.  Now I'm wearing the vet issue cone of shame.  Mommy has put me in jail (ex pen) when she or papa can't watch me.  Dr. Kevin said I was the BEST girl EVER!  Hmmmm, I bet he says that to all his girlies.     I get the feeling that the next couple of weeks are gonna be a real drag.    Bonnie
