Patches the huntress

Get up hubby lets dogs out & he goes to store, so I'm washing my face brushing my teeth,I keep hearing Patches barking sounds different so I go look in the garage no Patches ? Finish with my teeth get my shoes on I go out patches is on the other side of the shed hubby has a old lawnmower sitting out has a old horse bucket sitting on the engine??? Patches is barking  trying to dig under it Buddy is acting like there is a critter in the garage under hubby's work bench. I make Patches go in the house I go back out and shake the mower thinking the critter might get away.? Hubby comes home I tell him what is going on he is not interested so then I rephrase it I say might be a dead stinky critter in a few days. Then he goes out finds a dead squirrel he said it was on the other side of the lawn mower he throws it over in the Cement yard.Patches is in the house doing a look at mom then a whine then a look at mom then a whine, I wait awhile then let her out. She goes to the old mower sniffs around air scents goes about 6-8 feet towards the cement yard wall you could just see that her nose told her exactly what her daddy did with the squirrel then she did go under the Oak tree & look up you know just to make sure the squirrel was not up the tree.It was amazing to see the little wheels turning in her head about what happened to the squirrel.
Today is Buddy's birthday he is 6 years old.

Have a sneaky hunch Buddy caught the squirrel since he is about 30 inches at the shoulder & built for speed thats the Greyhound in them.Patches may have been in on it too have yet to see how they do it this makes squirrel 2 or 3 can't remember for sure.
