I've been lurking mostly but now am ready to bounce in again.  I'd love to know all who's still posting these days and how you and your furry kids are doing.  I'll start.

Mark and I are good.  Both working and in the middle of redoing our mobile home.  Talked about moving for a bit but decided to stay put for now.  Of course, with him working for the State (CA), to keep his state job, we might have to move sometime but so far, we're stable for now.  The house is shaping up with new paint and flooring and soon new window treatments.

Bonnie is now 13 years old.  Yikes!  I can't believe it's been over a year that the Madderoo has been gone and 3 years with the Bon Bon.    Bonnie is adjusting to the laminate and treads carefully.  She seems to be showing her age a bit.  We don't think she sees well but she can still maneuver steps and jump on the glider rocker.....our only sit down furniture as of today.  Hopefully our leather loveseat and matching recliner will be here this weekend or next or next.  Our little rescue Bon Bon has turned out to be a super little dog that makes us smile and feel loved.  She has her own little quirks like being afraid of the oven and jumping at every little noise.  And now with our new floor, it's much more echoey in the house so she gets startled easily.  We are waiting (and have been for 3 months now) for our new bedroom set so our mattress is on the floor.  Bonnie visits us in bed sometimes but really prefers her own bed by ours.

How about you.  How are you and your puppers doing?
Mommy to the sweetest Bon Bon!

Dee Dee and Hallie

That seems impossible that you have had her 3 years and Doe-Eyes has been gone for 1! Aren't we still in the era of Dolly?? Whaaa! And Hallie could still see!!!!!  :confused:Time goes way too fast. Makes me smile though to hear how Bonnie makes you 2 happy.

I was hoping you'd be moving closer to Hallie and me! Not for the time being though huh?

Would love to see pics of your mobile home remodel when it's done if you can get some. I love seeing a transformation.

Not many people on this board anymore compared to the old days I think most have gone over to FaceBook. I love this board though. Good people (and puppers).

Hi Sandy,

Danni and I are doing great.  She has gotten so big, but thinks she can still sit on my shoulder when I type or watch TV, silly girl.  One thing I can say though is that she is great at protecting the house, just yesterday she barked at a plastic shopping bag that was in the neighbor's yard, telling it to go away.  The only thing Danni doesn't care for is when I am scanning paperwork in the bedroom and I can't be with her.  She has taken on one of Sam's traits of coming in, giving me the L@@K, being told 5 more minutes and then coming back in exactly 5 minutes.  I don't know what I'd do without her.

As for me I am still doing Mystery Shopping , but only work for a couple of regular companies since they pay higher fees and I can basically pick and choose my assignments.  However, starting next month I am going to be able to work from home more and do some PR work.  I recently signed on with a media company called Local Stew which is an online database of businesses, event, organizations, etc which provides people in SE Michigan with info on what is going on in the area.  My beat is going to be things closest to where I live and will require a lot of online research or going on the  road occasionally to events, but it does mean a lot of time at home, on the computer with Danni helping.  What I like about it is that I will be able to promote a lot of local events and groups that people might not otherwise know about.  It should be really fun.

No redecorating here, yet.  I would like to turn my one spare bedroom into a library of sorts and get all my stored books out in the open.  My other new passion is Vegetarian/Vegan cooking.  I watch the FoodNetwork and he Cooking Channel all the time and have almost worn out my printer printing out recipes.

I agree with Dee Dee that there are a lot of "oldtimers" missing and I often wonder what happened to them.

Kelly in Illinois and the "5Graham Cracker" dachshies portin in! It's starting to get cold here in Northern Illinois! We had some snow this past Thursday but not enough to amount to anything !  My Mom and I have 3 puppers named Blusky,Cinni& Molly and we live with my sister&brother in-law and nephew and they have 2 boy Dachshies named Arnie&Fritzy! I am so thrilled to talk to different people on here! We hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!

I am still checking the board pretty regularily. Not much happening with us. Parker is still naughty. He's 4 now and still not housebroken. Yikes. He could have the run of the house if we could trust him. He gets confined to the laundry room when we are at work. However, he is getting more reliable with the pee pads at least. If we throw a blanket in his bed in the laundry room he will pee on that, so no blankets. He sleeps in the big bed and is very well behaved or he would be spending evenings in the laundry room. He knows there are limits and is careful not to push them.
Both my husband and I work full time out of the house. No retirement for us.
We renovated our kitchen in the spring. Looking at a bathroom update but not till after Christmas.
We tend to hibernate in the winter. I find with my acute arthritis the cold is a little tough. Thank goodness we have a hot tub. It's really nice in the winter to sit outside with the snow falling. We even decorate our yard with Christmas lights. We have a safety cover on the pool that lays flat. I hated the water bags and ugly black tarp.
We only host one party over the winter - Christmas Eve. Our house is pretty tiny so we are all packed in like a bunch of drunken crayons. Of course the party tends to spill in to the backyard and the hot tub. We usually do a fire in the fire pit as well if the snow is not too deep and with the safety cover on the pool we don't have to worry about somebody falling in.
dis is Parker:  Santa is coming an I am being berry berry good. I is protecting da house while da momma and daddy are at work. It is berry hard to do from da laundry room but momma says I am untrustworthy.........
I has a berry big list for Santa paws. Amber is coming to bisit for Christmas. She is a berry big weiner dog dat Momma says is a lab. She is berry old now and doesn't like to play but she is good for snugglin. She don't like me berry much and won't throw my ball for me. I lub to chase da ball and squirrels. Dem squirrels are getting very saucy and sit on da fence and throw stuff at me. I almost caught one today. Momma says it was berry close. She says if I was 5 minutes faster I would have got it. Dats good right????? :dontknow:

I'm still checking in regularly too.  I'm not posting much, mostly because I mostly lurk from work and feel bad about actually posting while I'm there.  My crew is doing well.  Junie and Cricket are both spayed now, and Cricket is going to be placed-right now I'm speaking to someone back in Washington, so she may end up back where her mama started.   Millie's going to be spayed here shortly as well.  Winston has been terrific, no issues since that back problem last winter, and I'm hoping he doesn't slip on ice again this winter and bother it again.  Murphy is FAT and we're trying to get some weight off of him.  Green bean diet is in progress.

Roberta

 wez is still here  :2funny: and we are still  :angel4: not..............
We are heading into summer so the temperatures and the humidity is starting to rise. Both of the pair are well ecept wonderboy is seemingly more allergic to grasses this year due to the huge amounts of rain this winter so the grasses have grwn madly. Amy is just Amy and is still skinny now and is a lot happier in herself.
Nick and I are well and I wonder how i fitted in work.

Here is my update:

I am relocating to Israel in February, March or April. Guinness and Aima are coming along on their Hebrew lessons; they ignore me in any language I speak!

Beau and Merlin are retiring to North Carolina. Jim and Leslie Ingram of Almost Home Dachshund Rescue, now of Doxie Acres have agreed to take the boys back, in December, I think.

So I'm s-l-o-w-l-y digging my way through 40 years of stuff and every once in a while I find a gem:

We are definitely still around, checking in and commenting now and then. We have just finished getting some new furniture for the house, including a bed that is much closer to the ground for Schatzi. She still has doggie steps to get up to it, but they are smaller ones and if she happens to decide she is going to jump off, it isn't quite so far. She also got a new bed of her own (of course, she refused the first one, but seems to like its replacement). My 5 year old niece had a slumber party with Meghan last night and Schatzi is now her forever friend. I'm so glad she is good with children. Allison was also good with her.
I now have a few chickens with a friend of mine, but they stay at her house. It has been a fun adventure and we should be getting our first eggs any day now. Schatzi is hilarious when I come home after being in the chicken run or coop. The smells drive her crazy. She has "met" the chickens a couple of times, through the fence, but thinks they are dinner. Maybe she will change her mind when she gets an egg or two provided by them.
Meghan will be 27 tomorrow and I am feeling old!!! Oh, and Schatzi just had her 8th birthday yesterday and I forgot to post it on here. I am a bad mamma!

We're still here!  Haven't done a lot of posting but do come and catch up on the board.  Sarge and Duggie are doing well.  Sarge is 12 1/2 years old and Duggie is 8 years old.  They are getting ready for the winter months now....they are not fond of the cold, damp weather that winter brings.  As I get older, I can't blame them....I'm not too fond of it either!  Dave and I are doing good.  In July, we were blessed with our granddaughter who is now 3 1/2 months old....she will be four months on the 25th.  We are watching her Monday-Friday from 7:45 am to 2 pm while Mom and Dad are at work.  Both are teachers....Sean teaches Social Studies/Economics at the High School level (full-time) and Cassie teaches a kindergarten class half-time.  I meet her at the school in the mornings and pick Reagan up.  Then Reagan gets to spend the day with Grandma, Grandpa, Sarge and Duggie.  Duggie is in love with Reagan.  Sarge ignores her during the day, but when her Momma comes to pick her up, he has his say with Cassie (in dog bark)....."you can't take Reagan home".  Dee

Dang....time just seems to zip on by, doesn't it?   I am good...working, and well working and taking care of puppers !!!!  Rudy will be 12 next month and I just can't believe he has been with me almost 11 years. I was remiss with him and Bran as far as training goes...but he has a bed of his very own on the love seat, and Toby is not allowed up there - and has learned to Go To Your Place and he is THERE !!!!   Heavy treating is involved      He was never really crated much, but now is "learning" by going in there when I take Toby for a walk, and when I prepare their meals...again heavy treating to hunt in the blankies !

Brandy will be 16 in March and she is really showing her age....we deal with each day as it comes, and I feel blessed each morning, when I carry her out to potty and she snuggles back in her bathroom bed so she can be close to Mommy while she showers  :thumb:  She still eats well, and manages to go outside using the doggie door to potty - so we are still good !!!

Next month Toby will have been with us 3 years and I almost thought Rudy had forgiven me for bringing him home....but alas, the boys got in a scuffle a few weeks ago, and we have done alot of rearranging in how we do things at the Fivey's home !  Toby is the agressor and after a look over by the vet, I think alot of his issues might be related to hip pain.  Since I have had him, he has always run holding his back leg up.  When I first got him they xrayed and didn't see an injury, but it has deteriorated over time and the vet felt bone against bone rubbing.  So he is on a light dose of pain meds to see if that helps.  He is also getting long over due training and as I expected - he is very smart and is getting it.  We practice every day, and my next step will be to get him around other animals and have him learn to not be threatened..... definatly an on-going process and a lot of work !!!
Toby is really a very sweet boy, and I am working hard to make sure that all of them live in harmony.

Mary and Holly have been with me a year and a half and their personalities are really coming out.  Mary is a little sprit - the tiniest at 6 1/2 lbs, but thinks she is a BIG dog !!!  We just went through another bout of her mange....and hopefully have gotten past it, and can get her immune system back in sync.  Holly has come out of her shell the most..... she LOVES to be outside and finally mastered the doggie door and sneaks out there all the time.  She is Toby's mini me, in that she loves to dig like him, and hunt for critters.  Holly prefers to snuggle in the girls cave, but usually once a day, she will come to me - to pick her up and just love on her...and I DO !!!

Great thread Sandi !!!!  We all are so busy, and with Facebook, I tend to forget when and IF I post stuff..... LOL !!!  Great to catch up with everyone !

We are doing OK. It has been one month since we lost Zack. Have been getting used to Zena being the only dog.   Her eyes have been acting up big time so we are seeing a specialist at the end of the month.  Trying like the devil to stay warm since it has turned cold.

I am still here, just minus Ilsa. Gretchen is now 12 (when did THAT happen?) and is doing very well. She is starting a scent detection class next Monday just to keep her occupied. Elli, who I got when I lost Ilsa, is doing good also. She's 3 now.I was hoping she would be a therapy dog but nature has a way of making her own decisions and, although very sweet, smart and funny, therapy dog just isn't in her future. Her breeder lives in the country and when I got her at 9 months (had her for about 2 years), she even flattened out at cars that would pass us while walking her. After several obedience classes, agility classes, show ring classes (even though she's not a show dog, I did it for socialization - worked wonders - she loves all dogs, no matter what breed or size), and 1 therapy dog class (again, just to get her out of her comfort zone and broaden her horizons), she has come a long way - doesn't shy away from people and gets along well with all dogs. Who knows, maybe when she gets older, she'll be ready for therapy work - hope springs eternal! Cyrus, who we've had about a year and a half, is a very sweet boy. He is 4 (a rescue). He loves people! And he loves to learn - use his brain. He and Elli went to agility class together and he learned much more than she did. He's also been to an obedience class (did better than Elli there, too) and is now learning to be a hearing dog for Ron (who is losing his hearing). It will be his turn to go to therapy dog class after Gretch finishes hers.

Ron and I are doing good. I can't believe 12 years have gone by since I discovered this board and met all you nice people!!!!! The only renovation around here has been the shower in the master bath. So many things I want to do but time and money seem to always pop up as problems! Slowly but surely, they'll get done.

Brekkesmom

I am still checking in from time to time, though not 3 times a day as I used to.  I have four dachsies - Bastian is 11, Brekke and Rowan are 10, and Robinton is 9 or 10.  I retired in June, and am still trying to figure out how I worked and did what I did, since it seems to take me a lot longer to do things around the house.  My aunt (86 years of age) has had cataract surgery and is finishing up eyedrops for the right eye - her left was done first.  I have been her frequent chauffeur since mid-September, when the process began.  Brenda (Mocha's mom - and Mocha passed this past summer) goes to UCLA for cardiac and oncologist appointments and I usually go with her so she won't have the 2+ hour trip (one way) alone.  I got my last four windows in the house replaced with vinyl windows that have e-glass, so I have done my improvements for this year.  I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas as I haven't done for years, because I haven't felt rushed.  (Happy Hannukkah, Keren, and also to the Cohens!)

(waving from Pennsylvania) I try to check in a few times a week, but barely have the time to type a response. Please know that you are all in my    all the time.

Zuzu is doing well, and will spend the whole day outside if we let her (especially if DH is vacuuming the carpets).   Her face is getting frosty, but she can still fly off the deck after a skwirl!

She is sometimes a little stiff when she wakes up, but usually shakes it off in 10 minutes or so. (Unlike mom, who sometimes needs the whole day.) She'll be 11 in January. She gets to sleep in the big bed these days, although she asks to be let down--I think it's her ankle/wrist joints that bother her. The adjustment to life without Loki (over a year now) has been easy, and we remember her fondly for her determined food focus and general Loki-ness.

Work continues and we are secure in our jobs and thankfully keep paying the bills. We hope everyone is healthy and safe and riding out the current economic situation. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

My good friend OlIe, and his mom Ruth, came to see us this summer, and were we having fun, playing together,  just riding around, seeing the sights. :shocker:

We hope they will be back soon, cause I really really like him. :grommit: :grommit:  He say's 'I wove woo'.   No!, not to me, but a girl can dream can't she?
We hope everybody, had a Great Thanksgiving Day!

I'm still here, though I lost my Solly-man in January of 2009.  But I now have a beautiful, though a little whacked, red smooth mini girl named Hildegard.  Hilde for short.  Miss Hilde will be 3 this this December 16th.  Hard to believe it has been almost 3 years since my Solly left.  Still miss him a lot, but do have my girl to keep me company, give me lots of love and to love in return, and to play tug of war with (one of Hilde's favorite games).
