We are about to embark on a painting frenzy here in SLO.  We are leaning towards yellows as in butter. Our scheme is not set in stone or on the walls yet.  What I'd like to know from you is.....what color is YOUR kitchen?  And if you want to throw in dining room and living room, I'd love it hear that, too.  We live in a Mobile Home, so our kitchen/dining room/living room kind of all meld together but I still want a definite color separation in the kitchen.  If anyone is interested and wants to comment, so far my favorite is:

Behr Colors:   Honey Butter-walls-with Bridal Veil trim on the baseboard and front door in living room
Kitchen:  Cream Yellow with bridal veil trim and Cotton tail on all ceilings.

Have a great Friday everyone!

My kitchen is sunny yellow with white trim.  The cabinets are white, except the bottom ones which I painted a silver spruce green.  My widows are in the corner over the sink and it was always dark there so against the wishes of all my relatives I painted that alcove white and now it is brighter.  My living room and dining room are combined and painted a beige- I hate it, but there is too much for me to do alone, but if I could it would be a salmon color.

Did you ever get a new stove?

BonniesMom

Nice kitchen, Marcia!  Yep!  Got the stove (white).  Kinda wish I would have been into the whole stainless steel look then and held out for that.

I went with the black stove and fridge - it looks fantastic with the green and white cabinets.

Our kitchen is all white with blue, gray, maroon accents w/the counters being a black/grey/white top, all white cupboards and appliances.  Our living room/dining room is a light mocha, with each having an accent wall color of sun-dried tomato (a very deep red) and the trim is a cream along with the doors.

Mine is stone coloured fronts on the cabinets which match the floor tiles with brownish laminex (you can spill stuff and never find it) the tiles behind the range are large and brown and look like rusted iron with stainless steel trim round the edges as I hate edging tiles  and stainless cooktop and oven and dishwasher.  May sound a bit boring but I love RED so the kettle is red the all the accessories are in your face RED, the kitchen is attached to our family room which is similarly coloured the suite a dark tweedie colour but the rug, cushions and again everything else is red........................No curtains as no one can see in. The walls are a grey white.

ps Stainless is not all that it is cracked up to,  as it shows every mark and wipe, found through experience 3M stainless polish. So glad I decided on a white fridge .

Great input folks.  Dave N Dee, I've mulled over the idea of an accent wall.  Haven't decided yet.

Colors of the evening......different than this morning....

All Behr colors:

Kitchen walls AND ceiling:  Frosted Lemon (330A-2)
Trim:  Bridal Veil
Livingroom:  Lively Yellow (330A-3) with Frosted Lemon Ceiling and add a bit of Bonnie Cream (330A-1) to the clear story to add depth.  Yes, it's Bonnie Cream and I do like the color, not just because it's called BONNIE.   :thumb:

Love seeing/hearing about the color combos. Will be anxious to hear what you choose Sandy, butter yellow is one of my favorite wall colors and the only wall in my house (in the nook) color that is other than off white.

LOL Dee, I can see a doxie on your TV!

Love this thread. We are talking about painting our kitchen, and Randy has some strange color ideas. I will need all the help I can get!
Remember that whatever color you pick, it will be darker once it dries.Doesn't Behring have the little sample cans? When you have it narrowed down to two, I would get those two in the small cans, paint a square on the wall and see which one you like best. That way you will know for sure before painting the whole room.

Here's our latest colors

Now we're looking at Sherwin Williams paints.  Just read too many negative reviews about Behr, so decided to up the quality a notch or two.  The big front runner is:

Friendly Yellow with Pure White trim and Summer White for the ceilings.  The yellow is the first that we've had as a card up on the wall that doesn't turn greenish in the different lights of the day and evening.  It's yellow through and through yet not super bright or glaring.  Thinking of doing both the kitchen, livingroom, diningroom and hallway in this color with the bright white trims and subtle white (on the yellowish side) ceiling.  We've both slept on it and still really like the combo.  I have honey wood cabinets in the kit with a off white trim.  This should work nicely.  I'll try to get a picture when it's all done.

If anyone wants to tell about their interior or exterior paint project, I'd love to hear about it.  This has been a fun thread.

Sherwin-Williams paint is what we use.  I love their paints as the quality seems really good.  Next year, the outside of our house gets painted (hopefully) and we'll use Sherwin Williams.  We  started using them as our son-in-law's dad is a manager for one of the Sherwin Williams stores here in our area.  Not only did he help us with choosing the color, he actually sent paint home with us to try on small areas of the walls to see how and what we liked.  He is extended family to us and he is really knowledgeable about their paints.  You will love the Sherwin Williams paints.  We painted our walls in 2009, and they still look like we just did it or should I say, like my son-in-law just did it!   No fading at all.

Exterior paint story:

One side of my garage, which faces West peels terrible and must be painted what feels like every two years.  Well, the last time we painted was back in 2009 and I wanted to use something that would last, so I did a lot of research and settled on, wait for it, barn and fence paint.  It may seem weird, but I figured if it's good enough for the American farmer then it's good enough for me.  Except for a couple of chips missing on one side, that can be fixed the paint is holding up.  Oh yeah, the paint is by Behr.

My kitchen is tuscany green, with white trim.  Dining room walls are cream colored, and living room is cream colored walls, and sand colored ceilings.  Need to paint, but I no want to !!!!  Have fun !

My entire home is Behr WF120, Natural Linen, with white baseboards.  Boring to the majority, I know, but we like the fact that it expands the size of the house, which is not that big to begin with, although we have an open floor plan.

I wish I could say that I'd paint my house again, but at my age and with my husband approaching 64 I don't think that's going to happen.  The "open floor plan" means we have a staircase opening of over 20 feet high.  I'm not about to let him do it!

And the WINNER is:       Friendly Yellow (Sherwin Williams) in Satin sheen on all walls AND ceilings.  So that will be livingroom, diningroom, hallway and kitchen with Pure White (SW) trim and doors and baseboard in semi-gloss.  The baseboard will be painted and installed when the floor is laid (floating laminate).

Now aren't y'all just THRILLED with this news?  I know.  I know.  Boring, huh?     Meeting with Sam our contractor-and personal friend- tomorrow for the final details.  I hate the prep and waiting for everything to be done and living amongst construction clutter but it's gonna be lovely when it's all done.  Yippee!

My kitchen walls are a deep blue and I have bright white cabinets. My husband and I had trouble choosing paint colors, but now we both love it!
