Dee Dee and Hallie

My cousin gave me a baby monitor with video so I can paint again (Hallie does not like going upstairs to my studio with me because I have a crate on the table next to where I paint that looks down over the neighborhood which she used to love to lay in there and look out, only had the crate so she wouldn't fall off the table, she would lay there a long time then ask to come out and then would go play with her "upstairs toys" or sleep on one of the floor beds) but now of course she can't see out to the neighborhood  and can't let her walk loose up there too many frames and things to walk into so she prefers to stay downstairs. So now I can paint while watching her on the monitor and I go running down as soon as she finishes napping and gets up from her bed and is listening for me. So I finally got this painting done, this and one of their other dog were due early April but with Hallie's blindness I have been way behind. So here is Gretchen, a sweet little wirehaired dachshund girl.

DeeDee, as always, a beautiful painting!  Hallie and you have been in our thoughts a lot lately.  I've been thinking about you and need to get an email off to you.

We have been busy with helping Sean and Cassie get moved into their newly purchased first home.  We've also been busy getting the spare bedroom ready for Grandbaby Girl which is due around August 19!  Dave and I refinished a dresser that Cassie wanted us to have.  It was her dresser when she was small.  So, Baby Girl gets the dresser now.  Been busy sewing up a storm.  Have many projects in the works.  I've made a lot of baby stuff but am putting the other things that I want to do on hold while I make a quilt for Dave's mom.  When we visited her just before Mother's Day, she asked if I would make her a quilt using embroidered flour sack squares that her Mother completed.  They are just beautiful so I am going to resize the squares to a 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" with a fabric frame around them.  The completed size of the square will be 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" and there will be 50 of them.  The quilt is going to be huge!  I am honored that she asked me to make her a quilt with work that her Mother did.  The pieces she did are quite old......but in very very good shape.  (My mother-in-law just turned 84 in April.)

Again, beautiful painting, DeeDee.  Hugs to Hallie and you!!

Saw this this morning on the other computer that Nick gets rid of the cookies and duh has to have #$$ times to get it right. So here I am and all I can say is "OMG" stunning.
And glad you are back painting..........other thought have you considered a play pen maynot be the table but she is near and she still can have her toys. Ollie goes in when his hippy shakes are not good, in my work room, as he is the mountain goat and flossie always wants in too.
I am still over awed in how you manage to get paint to look like photo, and every time one is unvailed I'm stumpted again.

You have been busy Dee! I would love to see a picture of the flour sack quilt when you get it done. Your family is growing! It's nice you know the gender of the baby this early so you can prepare for a girl.  :thumb:

Thanks Ruth and oLlIe, oLlIe you are one handsome dude yourself!

Thanks Barb, it's nice to be back to painting I just wish I could give a certain little someone her eyesight back I was soooo sure we'd come home from Iowa with a seeing Hallie BB.

That is really neat about those dogs Papbouv, do you know if they were blind from birth or if it came on suddenly? I keep wondering if Hallie remembers what it was like to see...

Thanks Hannah, now starting Gretchens 'sister" Gabbe, she's very cute and a really unusual color I'm not even sure what you'd call it.

Roberta that is a great idea, someone had suggested that for downstairs but it isn't needed down here really but I hadn't thought of having it upstairs while I paint. I will take her shopping! Then I can have her safely with me upstairs on long painting jags.  It's probably a good thing to have her downstairs alone once in a while (even though I hyperventilate!) as long as I can see her on the baby monitor as I'd like to get her to where she feels confident enough to stay home alone for short times like when I have to go to the dentist, etc. So far I've only had to leave once and some good friends stayed with her (for about an hour). I have cancelled everything I had scheduled where she can't go with me other than that. I have a photo shoot Sunday at a rock quarry with some Akita's normally I'd leave Bird Butt home for that time but now will take her and park near where we are and leave her in the van in her crate. She's always calm in there.
