But then it got away.  This is Bonnie and I just about had some yummy possum pie.  I ran outside and then papa saw flashing eyes and yelled at me.  Unlike my predecessors Maddie and Dolly, I (silly me) came when papa said "COME!"  I scooted right up the steps and inside I went.  Papa saw the possum.  It was a baby and it was limping.  I gots me a foot but it still got away.  My first critter all by myself!   :hello2:

Oh dear!  I hate it when we have critters.  I was drop jaw surprised that when Bonnie was told to "COME!" that she actually did just that.  I was sooooo pleased.  I swooped her up (she pee'd cuz she was skart) and felt all over her face for wounds.  Didn't find any but she sure was sloppy mouthed.  She gets that way when very excited.  Mark was going to open the gate for the baby possum to limp out but then he turned around and it was gone.  I was SURE it was still in the yard somewhere so after a while, I took Bonnie out on a leash to do her business.  No possum in sight (or smell in her case).

So glad that Bonnie was none the worse for wear but I wish those things would get the message----Bonnie's Yard!  No Possums Allowed!

*No possums were seriously hurt in this adventure.  Just nipped a bit.

Slinky and Boomer almost had a Big Bunny (bigger than them!) the other day.  I saw them running out in our fenced yard with their hackles up, howling and yipping and then saw a Big Bunny going up in the air, trying to jump the fence (unsuccessfully).  We have our fence with slats so that critters can get out (usually squirrels and chippies) but this was one Big Bunny so he or she had a hard time finding a slat he or she could fit through, but finally did.  I was so glad when I saw that little bunny tail wiggling through.  I hate to think of the alternative.  So far, the only "kill" made was from Princess Strudel ~ The Huntress, when she brought a bird into the house in her mouth (which was also bigger than her).

One time long ago our cat Sam got a spruce hen, about half the size of Sam.  The bird wasn't injured that badly, just a couple bite wounds.  I took it away from Sam and had Dan take the bird out in the woods and let him go.  Sam was so mad at me, taking away his big treasure.
