I did not tag anyone in a photo so do not open anything from me if you get a notification from FaceBook.  I only post to my wall and that's it.

Hi Everyone,
I don't often have time to post anything, but I think about all of the Wiener Writings family all of the time, and check often for news and prayer needs and you can rest assured that all are in my prayers for blessings even when there are no special needs. This post caught my eye, along with Barb's response, because there does seem to be a lot of inexplicable stuff going on with Facebook lately. I came across an article a couple of weeks ago that I've shared with many of my FB friends, mostly fellow church members and family, and I'm pasting the link here in case you want to check it out. We each have to make our own decisions about what we share online, but items 1 and 2 in this article are especially important. Working with computers and mostly in health care, I tend to automatically avoid some practices that many people take for granted, but this article is a great caveat about thinking before we hit the Enter key or click the Share button, and I can tell you from personal knowledge that none of the caveats in the artilcle are overstated. There's a great deal that you can protect in FB by denying access to your personal information at many different levels. It can take a little while to go through all of the options, but it's worth taking a look at via the Account/Privacy Settings tab; you might also be surprised at what is shared by default if you don't change the setting. Many of the settings also have a Customize option that further enhances your ability to keep things private by allowing access only to yourself.

Take care everyone!

I am a neophyte at Facebook since I just joined about 2 weeks ago. Glad I waited until after I retired because I am spending WAY TOO much time there!! I have no idea when i am posting if it shows up.  sometimes I can pull up what shows as new postings from me and sometimes not.
I also have been quite vocal about a couple important issues to me but to be honest I have not friended a bunch of people I might friend simply because I really don't wan't some to see some of my posts!  Especially on political issues!!  I hate arguing and don't like debating issues, and some of them escalate so fast!! I also don't want to offend people that I think might be offended.
I am probably going to purchase a book on facebook(facebook for dummies).  There is a version for seniors that covers facebook and twitter, and it looks the regular facebook for idiots apparently comes out with new versions maybe yearly and some reviews said stuff was outdated, but the senior one had at least one better review.  I will be honest, I doubt I will get on twitter since I do not want to go for any fancy phone with keyboard. I don't text. I have enough fun trying to name my phone contacts with the number keypad!!
there is an event on facebook Monday about fixing your facebook account but it may address more info on what updates there are rather than how to do anything there!!

I have a simple solution for the Facebook problems (which got me to spend $1,000 for a new computer about a year ago, since nothing could fix the mess on my old one):  I don't go on Facebook, period.  Deleted all info and closed my account.

Best way to avoid it is to never get involved with it, or any of them, I'd rather email or if I can manage it phone as it is personal one on one. I have never understood how some can put their life and things way out in the public eye.
Plus I have better things to do with time.................make sure to pups don't get into trouble quilt, stitch, garden.
