Dee Dee and Hallie

Hallie has been feeling so good (back wise, not so much tummy wise) for a long stretch now, but today she was acting slower and sleepy, which worried me, and for good reason tonight she had a huge limp in front which is sort of new, she did that once several weeks ago but only for a few feet then was fine, it was right after I got her out of the van and I thought maybe she lay on it wrong or something. Tonight she was doing it in the house just walking across the floor. I know she wasn't limping earlier today. She even just lay there when I was making her a batch of treats tonight where normally she'd be out there supervising everything. I gave her some tramadol and she's resting, we'd appreciate any prayers and rays for a quick and full recovery. I have a lot of fun plans for her for Christmas I'd hate to have her miss them.

Spanish Teckels

DeeDee we are so sorry to hear this and hope by the time you read this Hallie will be doing much better. Warmest Spanish rays and our prayers heading your way so you two girls can enjoy a perfect Christmas.
BTW, Islay occasionally limps on her front left leg and we have discovered it is a touch of rheumatism in the shoulder from the bad fall she had when she was 3.  It happens when the weather cha ges to colder and damper and dissappears when it is warm and dry. Could Hallie be feeling something similar?
Our doors are open if you two fancy a break on the Mediterranean for medicinal purposes...

Sending Hallie some rays.  Hopefully it's just a minor thing and she'll get over it quickly.

Thanks for the rays, it was a long night of mom staring with buggy eyes at her sleeping child, she does seem better this morning. Still acting slower and sleepy though but not much of a limp. (She had 1/3 tramadol at 8:30 last night and now it's noon-thirty the next day) I wonder if it could be something like Islay and not her back after all? I wonder if some arthritis, etc, could cause her to feel bad enough to be lethargic and then present as a big limp for a bit and then no limp but still feel bad...and if so I don't know if I should keep her confined in case it IS her back or just let her out loose but no walkies, etc and watch her? I would be kicking myself if I did and she got worse. But don't want to crate her if she doesn't need it. Hmmm... :BangHead: I'd run her to the vet for xrays and such in a minute but she's been through so much at the vets that now she shakes like one of those vibrating baby ball toys about bounces herself off my lap, so I hate to stress her unless it's really  needed.

Rays are coming your way!  Your description of Hallie going to and at the vets is just like Sarge.  I always say that he shakes so much and so hard, that he could make a milkshake that would be super smooth!  I feel bad because he does shake so hard.   Sarge has a bit of arthritis in his limbs and I always notice with a change in weather his walk is a bit slower and a bit limpy.  It's very noticeable with the cold and wet.  When he is not feeling so hot due to the arthritis, he will just lay around (more than usual) and bury himself in his blankies.  And, when it is bothering him, he doesn't like having Duggie superglued to him, the way Duggie likes to be superglued to him when they are on the blankies/beds.  Sarge will just get up and move to another blankie/bed.  They have several of them around the house.

Hang in there and we will send "snowy" rays your way.  We'd send sunshine but we don't have any to be found!!

Awww, must be in the air.  King Sol is not well either.  He threw up Thursday night (yup, in the big bed), more than I thought his little body could hold.  He ate ok on Thursday, but since then he can't keep anything down.  He goes outside and wags his tail when he is awake, but he sleeps a lot and moves slowly.  Am hoping its just the flu.  Has anyone given their pups pedialite or gatorade so they don't get dehydrated?  A friend suggested that but was not sure I should try it.
Rays coming to Hallie from Virginia Beach, lets hope Christmas passes without any sick puppers.   :comfort:

Dee Dee, Oliver does this now if he lies on a hard floor after I get him home from Janes, so it may just be a tad of arthritis.
Hugs coming for you both.

Thanks Kari and Papbouv. I feel bad for Gizmo having to go through that too, I have Hallie on pepcid for "suspected" acid reflux. I think next year Hallie "needs" a winter house in Arizona to keep her joints warm.

So sorry to hear about Sol, Sue. It's so awful when the kids are sick. I hope he feels better soon too. I don't know about the gatoraid etc but I do remember I was told to give Hallie gatoraid at one time (I ended up not though so don't remember details). Get better soon Sol!

Poor Oliver, it sucks getting old and dogs have to face it so much faster than we do. Hopefully it won't get worse fast I had Hallie on Cosequin most of her life but stopped it when her tummy problems flared up, I just ordered more today as well as fish oil.

Ugh Dee it's sounding more like arthritis...I hate to see that. I hear you about the shaking, Hallie has to go in every 3 weeks for her allergy shot and she shakes everytime even though I always give her a big bite of canned food right after. I hope Sarge's joints are doing OK in your weather!

Any news today?

Have you tried tossing her blanket in the dryer to heat it?  I know it makes ME feel better.

Dee Dee and Hallie

Thanks for asking, she is doing much better. I'll bet anything it's arthritis after hearing from you guys. Funny you said that Les, every night our bedtime routine is I throw 2 blankets in the dryer and wrap her up in one and carry her to bed and the other for me. Marcia also mentioned heating up a bag of rice and letting her lay on that which I will try and I also remembered I have a moist heating pad from Fred days I can try. I"m taking her to the vet tomorrow for another...erm...issue....and will ask more about it then. But I'm guessing she'll recommend rimidyl, which I'm not sure I am ready to try yet, hoping there will be something safer to give her when it hits her until or unless it starts to bother her constantly.
