MIL has a new dog

MIL is going o be 81 this Feb her poodle rescue died so she had no animals today she went to the SPCA and the Animal Shelter to look around she said they had two Dachshunds that could not be separated nor were they house broke.Any way she had seen a sign at a house around where she lives stopped there.It was a give away not neutered,no shots or worm checks suppose to be 1/2 Poodle & 1/2 Dachshund about 1 &1/2 years old.She took it to the vets to be checked out suppose to give him a bath in the morning ? Asked her what color he was she said cream with a brown spot on its back she said he had wire hair but was so dirty she was not sure. I told he there are Wirehaired Dachshunds she did not know that. Woullllld have been cheaper & better if she would have gotten a rescue it would have been fixed up todate on all its shots and clean this way she will spend over $100.00 on her free dog??? I do not know nothing about dogs.
