Finally made a decision

I had the girls twelve week evaluations yesterday, and I've decided to keep Cricket.  I've wavered back and forth between her and Ladybug for weeks.  I'm going to make Ladybug available to a show home, so hopefully they'll both do well in the ring someday.  Junie's going to stay here at least until she's well, and when she is, I may end up showing her as well, but I'll decide that later.  The vet says it could take 4-6 months to completely clear up the pneumonia, but he doesn't expect there to be any longer term effects on her, so we'll see.

Wow that had to be a hard decision they are all sooo cute, Cricket is gorgeous I'll bet she finishes fast! I hope Ladybug finds a good show home soon too will be fun to follow their progress. And of course, sending prayers and rays that Junebug gets completely over the pneumonia. You done good with these girls Kathleen.

Thanks Dee Dee.  The daddy's owner and my friend Lois did the evaluations, and when I trotted Cricket down the driveway, I heard a pair of excited "Wow"'s behind me.  It pretty much made my decision for me.  I was so proud, too.  All three girls gaited along like pros, and were *happy* about it.  Cricket's going to be a lot more fun to show than her mommy was-you can just tell she's going to love it.

Big difference in the dogs that want to show and the ones who just do it to be doing it.The ones that love it that shows though to everyone they show their hearts out.Good luck with her.

Ima DoraBelle is a great dog with wonderful conformation.  She is, however a nervous wreck.  To this day, she's still skitterish.  The show ring was never an option for her.

I agree, it takes the whole package. I took Hallie to handling classes once we retired from obedience, to give her something to do she would come into the ring at the end of her leash with her wheels spinnin', I'd have to slow her down to gait, she would spin on the turns and she loved when the judge went over her on the table, she'd stand so proud and have a little smile on her face. Of course between her coat and her straight rear monkey leggies (and the little fact that she is from an animal shelter and only has an ILP# so not allowed to show in the breed ring, only obedience, plus she's spayed) she couldn't enter a real show but she did win 3rd at a match once. People would ask me her breeding and I'd tell them "back yard". I do wish I did know where she came from though but she's not talking.  :thinik:

I took Ladybug and Cricket to their first conformation class last night.  They both did pretty well in class, but howled like their hearts were breaking when each had to take her turn alone in the crate.  I guess I need to work a bit on "alone time" with them still. 

I think I've found a good show home for Ladybug-she's in New Mexico-so far away, but she sounds wonderful, and she also has a puppy from my friend Virginia out of Millie's "sister" (they share a mom and Cherub's dad is a son of Millie's dad), so she'd have a friend close in age to grow up with.   They sure are growing up fast-I was asked at class last night if the puppies were going to be mini or standards!
