Patches here no tooths missing so just got a dental cleaning & toes chopped while I was sleeping for some reason I went back to sleep & I was not on my bed woke up had to stay a half a day at the vets.?
OK took the little darling up to the vets this morning our vet came looked at my tooths in back said it was just really bad tarter on the back teeth the front teeth looked great. He said to use a finger tooth brush on the back teeth even gave one to Mom so we get to try it in the morning ? We will see what happens it had been two years since they last cleaned Patches teeth so not too bad but you would  think with all the brushing Mom does the back teeth would not get all the tarter on them.
Any one out there has a solution to keep the back teeth clean willing to try anything we were even using the Pets Life stuff maybe the tarter was just on there too bad.I do miss sometimes doing teeth depends on how I'm feeling, I try very hard not to miss doing them seems like there should be a way to keep from doing the expensive dentals where they have to put the dog under anesthesia? A lot of the Doberman people give there dogs RAW meaty bones say there teeth are clean and shinny??? They are very adamant about the bones must be raw its the cooked or boiled bones that are dangerous??? Asked the vet in the past said oh no might break a tooth???

Doxherding Karen

:book1: Dachshunds are prone to develop tartar because they have thin lips and long snouts.  Tartar develops faster in dry mouths. :dontknow:

"I tried marriage and children - it ended badly.
I'm doing much better with dachshunds and rabbits."

Was not impressed with the finger brush but will keep using it maybe it will grow on me ha,ha.Did notice a brown spot on the left canine in front though not happy about that all the teeth should be sparkley white for $177.00 I think. Do not think the old vet did it he is not old in age but has been there along time. I think they had the vet tech or the new vet that is there do Patches teeth??? Will keep an eye on the brown spot that is for sure going to use the Pets Life 2x3 times a week pet toothpaste the rest of the time. Does anyone give there dogs the raw bones???
